The memories keep on growing, and the experiences keep on developing. I don’t usually like to write about myself and my experiences a lot, my style is talking about the environment, and what our place is as humans in this world. This experience of moving across the country has me self reflecting a lot though, so what else can I write about besides what is going on in “Sam Town”.
I have mentioned this several times but I am truly no longer in the desert, and when I open up my Instagram or Snapchat and I get to see all of the desert homies adventures hiking and enjoying the sun, it gets me missing it. I’m missing out on witnessing my little brothers grow up, especially when I move back to Colorado that part of the fam will be across the state, it just gets me thinking what role can I be to the little homies without me being fully “there”. I love where I am at, no doubt about that. I love this new landscape I am adapting to, and I love the “Leap of Faith” I took for myself to grow. As I am growing up these thoughts of my place just seem to grow, Ill figure it out soon, right now I am just trying to do me.
My first article I wrote was about this quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and the quote read “For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over again.” Throughout the months this quote always jumps into my life at different turning points. As I was moving out of my dorm room this quote was all I was thinking about, and at the time my thought process was “Alright what do I do now?” – I spent 8 months living with an incredible group of friends, learned a lot of great things about myself, and learned a lot of not so great things. All of that came to an end in literally a blink of an eye, freshman year of college went by fast, man it was fun.
Now as that quote is jumping back into “Sam Town” I’m in a pretty awesome place mentally. Everyday has consisted of a new adventure here in The Shire (New Hampshire), all of which have been unforgettable experiences. This past week we spent the 4th of July on a lake called Lake Ossipee, located in Ossipee New Hampshire. We were at one of our friend’s cabin which was right on the lake, definitely an awesome view for such an incredible week. On a side note, something that I will never forget is how much the New Englanders like to drink...” Soda” (keeping it PG for the fam) pretty far statement but seriously, there were more adults hammered then the rest of the kids were… they were shot gunning “sodas” off of their heads, nuts.
Anyways, when I got tired of the lake I would bring out the inner “Colorado kid” and pack up my day pack with necessary essentials and go wondering in the woods. It’s scary man haha. The woods are so dense, and some places are just wicked boonie, like you’ll see a gas station that still sells farm milk, and guns, its seriously like a Walmart just for a town that has maybe 30 people. Boonie. I took some sweet pictures on my wondering through the woods, just making more memories, and experiences to tell.
I hope you all enjoy my pieces even if its just talking about my experiences. When I get back to Colorado I'll probably start writing about how important the environment is and such, but even that can get too repetitive, (sorry fellow enviro-majors) but for now, I’m just doing me, and I hope you are too.
