It’s hard to make friends when you have crippling social anxiety. So here is a shout out to the people that made the hard parts almost easy. From those who get me through the worst, to those who make life fun, and to the friendships that have faded. I’d like to thank each and every one of these wonderful humans.
So here is to my very best friend that never let me get down on myself even when I was at my lowest. I can not believe we have only known each other for three years. It feels like we’ve know each other for a lifetime. You are the only person I can come to with the silliest problems and not be laughed at (okay, maybe a little, sometimes a lot). You are still my rock despite the distance. Thanks for not giving up on my craziness. And thanks for always answering the phone and replying to texts when I demand attention.
Thanks to my squad/clique/whatever. You guys are the definition of the best… kind of. Thanks to the infinite amount of laughs, the crazy nights, the times you peer-pressured me into, like, everything. Thanks for the random nights in which we procrastinated on homework, then made up for it by sitting in the library for hours and hours. Thanks for SO MANY trips to Walmart. We all may be slipping away from each other but you all are the best friends a girl could have in college. I feel so lucky to be a part of a group of people with so many different personalities and backgrounds. I love the family we created.
Above all, I’d like to thank the friend that has been there since middle school. My longest friendship to this day. I, of course, did something to ruin that connection we used to have. I cannot deny that you are my very first love. We laughed together, we cried together, we sang together. Thanks for never judging me out loud. I still love your amazing mind. With it, you will go so far, I can feel it. My only request is that you should not settle less for any less than you deserve. I’ve seen what you can do and I know that deserve the best in life. No matter what, I will be there to tell you those things when you need them.
All of you have gotten me through some of the hardest times, some without knowing that. Thank you for being the comedians I could turn to for a laugh. Most of all, thanks so much for being my anchors (I hate this metaphor more than anything but it fits). You guys had me grounded when I wanted to flee the most.
