I Found A Soulmate In My Best Friend, And She Is Truly My Rock
Srinidhi Vangala

Everyone says that your significant other is your soulmate, but I found my soulmate in my best friend.

There is nobody in this world who I feel as comfortable with, nobody in this world who can tell exactly what I am feeling by just looking at me, nobody in this world who knows me better than she does. Everyone has a soulmate, and she is mine. She has been there for almost everything in my life, giving me nothing but the most amazing support and love. She has seen the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absolute drama. Fortunately, she has stuck around. It has been well over fifteen years, and I know for a fact I would not be who I am or where I am today if I never met her.

We can go for weeks without talking, but, when we talk, it is like nothing has changed. We have our own lives going on — we have our own things to deal with. When we do come together, nothing really matters. I can show up at her house at one in the morning and fall asleep with her.

She is truly my rock and the best thing that has happened to me. From our 9-year-old shenanigans to the dumb decisions we made together in high school, I will always remember them. After all, she has literally been there through everything.

She was my backbone when I lost family, friends, and even myself. She was there when I was at my highest and my lowest; she never stopped showing me love.

She has been my biggest supporter when it comes to school and finding myself and my passion. She is one of the first people to read anything I publish, anything I post, and she is always the first person to tell me she is proud of me.We have planned out our entire lives around each other — where we want to live, the career paths we wish to follow, and the kids we wish to have.

So many friends have come and gone in both of our lives. There have been times where we have fallen off and forgot who we are to each other. I take her for granted and she has taken me for granted. Although she is my best friend, there are times where I want to kill her — I know the feeling is always mutual.

We annoy each other. We fight. We argue. We don't always agree on things. Fighting with someone you love more than yourself sucks but also hurts a lot.

Friend-love is really a different type of love, which I am so lucky to experience with her.

So here's to you, Snigdha. Thank you for being my person, my best friend, my soulmate, my supporter, the only person who truly knows how to handle my obnoxious personality, all in one. I love you and am so lucky to have you into my life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
