Sorority Recruitment As Told By SpongeBob

Sorority recruitment. We all hate to love it and love to hate it. Here's how it really goes, as told by everyone's favorite sponge.

1. Getting ready.

This usually includes a power point of various celebrities for reference on how they expect everyone to look. (As if looking like Beyonce is an achievable goal.)

2. Set up.

God help you if you've been blessed with being the set-up crew. Everything has to be perfect and the PNM's are coming in hot and full of judgement. You honestly need eight arms to do this job and you'll be so glad when everything is finally done.

3. Before the round.

Everyone is ready. Your chapter starts their chant, jumping and dancing as the PNM's come marching in. There's no stopping this chant. Can't stop, won't stop. Breathing gets put on the back burner.

4. During the round.

Obviously, this is the most important part. It has become your job to impress the PNM's and make them feel comfortable in the room. Clicking with them is essential for forming a bomb new pledge class. You'll know you've found a diamond in the rough when you get off of talking about majors and hometowns and you find yourself talking about how her mom's cousin's dog once ate the same sushi as you.

But then you can also get the PNM who is most definitely not your type of person and that will find her home somewhere else and you just stand there like...

5. Between rounds.

This is a very special time and everyone seems to love each other even more than they already do by telling good stories and sharing warm and fuzzies. Maybe even the occasional dance party.

6. Finding your rush crush.

As you get deeper into recruitment and rounds are becoming fewer, many have found and adopted a PNM and named her their rush crush. It's someone you find that you absolutely adore and have to convince that your chapter is the one for her. It's a low key obsession.

7. Recruitment team closing in on Bid Day.

The recruitment team does so much more than anyone could ever imagine and definitely do not get the credit they deserve. They spend long nights figuring out who are the best fits and making sure everything runs smoothly. They look a little like the SpongeBob above...

and then more like this.

8. But finally... BID DAY.

Come one, come all. It's finally time to celebrate. The new members are here and the agony is over. The new girls are perfect in every way and we never let them forget it. Let's have fun and forget about how we're sleep deprived and need to be students again.

Enjoy your new pledge class and go get some sleep.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
