Sorority recruitment is an amazingly fun, stressful, fun, exciting, and nerve-wracking time for everyone involved, both the sisters doing the recruiting and the new members going through the process for the first time. Here is a glimpse into what it's like, as told by the girl all of America currently loves to hate.
That face you make every time someone asks you why sorority recruitment is the way it is
You, the night before the dry period starts
When you hear the potential new members waiting outside your door and it hits you that recruitment is actually about to start
By the time you finish chanting and clapping and screaming and you kind of feel like you're about to die but you somehow manage to keep it all together
When you hear everyone else talking about how they were their student council president in high school and they played three varsity sports and they volunteered 79 hours a week and you're just there like
When you look at every other girl in the room, even though you spent approximately three hours getting ready this morning
Does every pledge class just get more and more perfect???
Doing your best girl flirt
Hopefully without actually winking, though.
When you meet a girl and your immediate thought is "OH MY GOD DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS"
Every now and then you find someone you click so perfectly with right away you can't even believe she's real.
When the hanger pains start to set in
SO much talking. SO little food.
When you see that perfect girl from the day before excitedly waiting to go talk to another chapter
That sound was just my heart breaking, it's fine.
Around the fourth day when your voice is almost completely gone and you're about ready to chop your feet off and you can't remember why you thought this whole sorority thing sounded like fun again
The night before bid day when you basically lose all sense of sanity and so it kind of just turns into this:
Sleep? That's a joke, right?
When bid day FINALLY ARRIVES and you get to welcome your perfect new pledge class into your arms and you see the girls you personally talked to during recruitment have found their way into your chapter
HAPPY RECRUITING, EVERYONE!
