The Sorority Girl Checklist

Once you go Greek, you become known as the cliché term—"a sorority girl." Yes, with our different affiliations, we all have separated into groups, and even within one sorority, one can find a girl who has a completely different personality than the next, but that is what makes each chapter so unique and great. But together, most Greeks share common interests, and we end up doing a lot of things similarly, which is absolutely okay.

If you are a true sorority girl, this is an absolute must that this checklist is mostly completed.

  • Take a picture with all your *besties* doing the "srat girl" squat even though everyone is wearing heels.
  • Have a list of potential dates to your next date party four months ahead ...
  • ... and base that list off of which fraternity's formal is closest to or in New Orleans.
  • Have an award-winning number of t-shirts.
  • Know every single younger girl that is introduced to you before they are even introduced because you've been stalking their Instagrams for weeks now and HELLO, potential new member here.
  • Meeting the younger girl and think, "Wow, this is so going to be my Little next year."
  • Eat the salad bar at your sorority house, but go to Taco Bell later for a second meal.
  • Have 800 pictures throwing your sign even if what you're doing has nothing to do with your sorority.
  • Order every single shirt at least two sizes too big, and wear them with Nike shorts everywhere you go.
  • Add your sorority symbol to your bio on social media the same day you get your bid.
  • Have a GroupMe with your sorority's name and your favorite fraternity's name as the title.
  • Plan to make a ton of road trips throughout the summer to see your out-of-town sisters.
  • Be overly in love with everything about your sorority from your freshman bid day on.
  • Paint at least one cooler during your college career.
  • Place your srat sticker and license plate on your car two days after you get your bid.
  • Have too many sorority paintings to count.
  • Become a hoarder because you never know when you might need something for a swap.
  • Figure out who your roommates are for next year after only knowing each other for one month.

Once you check off most the things on this checklist, you will now have no doubt that you have earned the title of "Sorority Girl." No matter what your affiliation may be, sorority life is just more fun.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
