Sophomore Year…How is it Over?

Kissing sophomore year goodbye!

Sophomore Year…How is it Over?

When deciding where I was going to commit to college, people would give me advice and then tell me the one thing everyone says… college goes by in a blink of an eye. I never believed them. I would just nod my head and be like “yeah sure it does." Little did I know it actually does…I'm here in my final week of my sophomore year in college?! Where has the time gone? It feels like yesterday I was just moving into my dorm to start freshman year!

From living in dorms my freshman year to an apartment sophomore year, I thought that sophomore year would go by 10 times slower than freshman year did. Boy was I wrong! I am officially halfway done with college…scary. I thought that it would take at least a couple more years for me to be able to say that!

From never being home, having an internship, looking for a job, attending as many sorority events as you can to still be involved while balancing school work all in between that…you have already got an idea of what the rest of college is going to be like. Busy…busy…busy!

This was the year of brainstorming, where I am going to go with my life and what my career will ultimately be will soon to become reality. After sophomore year it's all about focusing on your future and what the future has in store for you. As much as I do not want to say that the fun is over…from here on out it is all seriousness when it comes to school. Not only that, but this was the year that I was actually able to call school my home. Sophomore year made me realize that the University of Arizona is my home and was by far the best decision I have yet to make in my life.

From going out on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every night of the weekend, one can say sophomore year was fun. Those late night runs to the Jacuzzi, being able to attend all kinds of sorority events, making cookies at midnight while talking to your roommates on the couch, those are times that I will forever cherish! Going from one other roommate to three, it was a complete change and the atmosphere of living in an apartment made it feel like college was actually my home, not just a place I have to live in order for me to attend school. Just because sophomore year is over does not necessarily mean the fun will completely stop, but now it is time to focus on yourself and where you ultimately want to go in life.

All I can say is that I have had one memorable sophomore year and I can't wait to see what the rest of my college experience has in store for me!

Bye Bye, Sophomore Year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
