As a freshman, going to college is a fun adventure because it brings a bunch of new and exciting things into your life. A new place to live, new friends, new classes, new professors, etc. Everything is new. But then freshman year ends and it's on to sophomore year. One may think that sophomore year may be easier because you've become used to everything and you do not have to learn how to live in a new place. Sophomore year is no piece of cake and here's why.
1. The classes are more challenging.
You're not just taking the easy general education courses this year. Now you are focusing on the more important classes to get into your major. These classes can be the make it or break it classes for you.
2. Those classes made you realize this is not the major for you.
Remember how I said those classes can be a make it or break it situation? They can make a person realize that this is the major for them or that this is not the major for them. Changing your major in your sophomore year can be frustrating and challenging, and it can even set you back another year.
3. The friends that you had your freshman year, may not be the same friends you have sophomore year.
People change and its sometimes hard to explain, but life will be okay. It's okay to make new friends and make new memories with different people.
4. Missing home never gets easier.
You've already been in college and away from home so being away should be easy, right? Wrong. Missing home is still a thing.
5. You realize how fast time really does fly.
Before you know it, you're already halfway through college and you're one more step closer to the real world.
