College is full of surprises

It's that time of the semester again. Midterms just passed, or are coming up for some people, and you feel completely drained. Physically, emotionally and psychologically drained. The fact that this doesn't get any easier doesn't really help the case either. It happens every semester sadly. If you can remember, it's like constantly having senioritis, but A LOT worst.

For my first year in college last year, it was TERRIBLE! I mean I hated the simple fact that I had to get out of bed every day and actually interact with people, especially when I would rather spend my week in my bed wrapped in a warm blanket with Netflix and ice cream and other junk. You literally have to force yourself out of bed to get work done. Even when your work is done, you still have something to do. Let's face it, if you're done all your school work before 12 am, you're either missing something or you just took a major "L" and said forget it. Yeah, I took a lot of L's last semester.

Like previously stated, the Mid-Semester Blues doesn't get easier to get through. It just becomes easier to deal with because now you know that it's coming and honestly inevitable. I think it's that part of the semester where you start hoping you get hit by a bus or something because a hospital seems way more fun. The fact is, it's not only the school work that kills you. It is the constant late nights and all-nighters, your room looks like you & your roommate have been robbed, work is never ending, your laundry is piling up, oh you have to feed yourself too. It just seems like it is too much and only 24 hrs in a day.

Okay so enough with the theatrics. There are ways of surviving this crap, I'm still figuring it out myself. What I have learned is that procrastinating makes it 100 times worse. Seriously I'm the queen of procrastinating, sometimes I don't even realize I am doing it. So this year I bought a nice planner and I write everything in it, I do mean EVERYTHING. Word to the wise, when you know you are going to struggle in a certain class, get a tutor right away. Trust me these things work. Oh and make sure you actually take some time to relax, too much stress won't make it any easier, you'll actually end up doing worst. Even if it is a small amount of time, take it. Also take some time to have fun, the most simple things can help you get through Mid-Semester Blues and college altogether.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
