Every day, people in the U.S. hustle and bustle about to get things done – work, school, projects, chores, exercise, eat, sleep, the list goes on. And every day, I notice myself being so focused on getting things done, I don't take any time for myself.
No time to sit and read a book for pleasure, no time to enjoy a cup of coffee on my front porch, no time to enjoy moments with my friends like I used to.
No time to be irresponsible.
And I think it's really time we all take a moment to step back and really analyze the things we do in our daily lives.
Are we really happy running so fast that we can't even catch a break to sleep for the recommended eight hours each night?
Are we really happy with the way things are looking right now?
Personally, yes, I have to say I am content with the way things are in my life right now. Except for this: I want to be able to look at every day and say I took time for me. Time to sit around, time to look at the fresh flowers I keep in my bedroom, time to read a book for pleasure every once in a while. Time to unwind.
So please, if you do anything this week, just take some time for yourself. Do whatever makes you happy because if you aren't making yourself happy, what are you working for?
