The Right Person At The Wrong Time

Sleepless In Seattle

The Right Person At The Wrong Time
Morgan Clearly

This is dedicated to one of my best friends.

I tend to read people well after working retail and being in the food industry for a few years. I can tell if someone is upset, happy, angry, etc. But most people can; it's not very hard to do. So when it comes to our friends and family, you truly know something is wrong when there voice is a little quiet and talk a little slower. You know they're on a different time zone.

If you are reading this and expecting for me to talk about the classic 1993 drama with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan "Sleepless In Seattle," I'm sorry to disappoint you because this isn't what that's about. (I recommend watching it if you haven't, though.)

Have you ever heard of the classic saying, "The right person but the wrong time?" This is what I'm writing about. The feeling of being so close to someone but having them being so far you can't seem to win. Personally, I am familiar with this feeling. But many of my friends are not.

Until now.

Whether it's having you heart completely broken or just being disappointed by someone who just tells you what you want to hear ... Regardless, if someone causes you pain, you're running off a different clock. What do I mean by that? Time goes slow. You'll try to be productive, but what seems like an hour has only been five minutes. And with that comes anxiety; not butterflies, but anxiety so bad it makes you want to throw up. With the anxiety you lose your appetite ... and so forth. It's an evil cycle.

I was in that cycle for almost a year at one point, so when I see this I just wanna take it. Make it my own again. I know how to deal with it, but seeing it in someone that isn't me for once, especially seeing it in someone you love ... Well, it's a hard thing to watch and just be on standby. So to one of my best friends, this is all for you.

I'm sorry that you put your all into someone for the first time for them to just disappoint you. You in general do too much for people, especially me. At times I wonder how I got to be so lucky to have an amazing friend who treats me like family. I'm sorry if your heart is hurting. I'm sorry that he had to move. It's not fair. But life isn't fair; it's just how it is. Sucks right? In this thing we called life, we are going to have extreme highs where we can't stop smiling, but with the highs — and we need this to appreciate the good times — are the lows, where you cry a lot and question why this happened to you. You have seen me in love, and when I love, I put everything into that person. It's a beautiful thing to watch two people fall for each other. To have inside jokes, to have a certain tradition you only do with that person, even going as far as when you smile when his name pops up on your phone. It's one of the most rewarding feelings to have someone that isn't a friend or a family member to care about you. But with that also comes the possibility of them leaving. I know you have all these questions that he won't answer, and I know you're too afraid to ask some. I know he boarded that plane and didn't even flinch knowing he didn't give you the goodbye you wanted so badly. I know he said, "Maybe in a year," but know you deserve so much more than waiting for someone. People are afraid to go outside the lines and see what else is out there and not sit around and wait for someone who is so unsure of what they want. They should know that it might not be easy, but some things are worth putting hard work into. People have way too many trust issues. People have gotten hurt and don't ever want to feel that type of pain again. But I'm telling you it's worth it. Every tear I shed, every piece of pain I felt was completely worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Remember who you are. Take that, hold onto that and remember he will be the one sleepless in Seattle.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
