The Six Types of Frat Guys You Meet In College

Because there's more to them than just some Sperry's and Chubbies.

One of the many stereotypes about Greek life is that all the guys are the same. Yet after being immersed in it for almost a year now, I've come across the biggest variety of men I've ever met. No matter how long you've been a part of it, you're sure to know someone that fits into at least one of these categories.

The Likeable Guy

Everyone loves him. His brothers, the sororities, the fraternities, professors, even people he just passes on campus; they all love him. He's typically outgoing and funny and loves to be the life of the party. You can always count on him for a good laugh.

The Drunk

This is the guy you'll find bar hoping on a Tuesday night, or getting blackout drunk on a Wednesday until 2 a.m. even if he does have class at 8 a.m. He rarely remembers your name because every time he meets you he's drunk. He likes to party, yet he still somehow manages to make it to class and slide by with a 3.0.

The TFM

This is the brother that wears his Sperry's and Chubbies with a button down, and likes to take pictures with a beer in his hand, typically with his letters in the picture and an American flag in the background. He has plenty of coolers and should basically be a rep for YETI by now. He lives by the TFM handbook.

The Srat Rat

This is the guy all your sisters warned you about. He's slept with at least one, if not more of your sisters, and everyone knows. The freshman girls tend to fall for him and his new tricks, yet the older sisters know all too well how it ends.

The Dad

He's the one at a party that's always worried about his brothers doing something stupid, or getting water for a sister that can't stop throwing up. You barley ever see him drunk because he's too busy taking care of everyone else. If he's not found at the party trying to keep things under control, chances are you'll find him in his room comforting a sister because of something a guy did. He's the one to tell you that jumping on the table is not the best idea, even though you'll do it anyways. He really is like a dad. He even kind of dresses like one.

The Guy That Refuses to Graduate

He looks like he's thirty but acts like he's twenty. He refuses to graduate because he got so hooked on his social life that he just can't seem to let it go. He took the bare minimum amount of credits each semester just so he could stay longer. Someone needs to break it to him that it's time to go.

The Big Brother

You look up to him. You share stuff with him that you can't tell your sisters, and you know he'll keep it quiet. You go to him for advice when you don't know what to do, or when you have boy problems but need a guy's opinion. He's there to guide you even if you don't listen to him. You pick on each other, and get annoyed just like a brother and sister would, but at the end of the day you still love him.

Maybe a lot of the guys are similar on the outside, but when you get to know them you see that the insides are completely different. They all play a different role in your life, and college wouldn't be complete without them. So here's to you boys.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
