Six Things I Cried About After Getting My Wisdom Teeth Out

Getting wisdom teeth out is one of the funniest, yet painful experiences a person may have to endure in their life. I was actually kind of looking forward to getting mine out the first day after I returned home for summer break. After making it through finals week on minimal amounts of sleep, I thought I could finally sleep for three or four days and not have to worry about anything. Boy, I was wrong. I was lucky if I could even fall asleep at three in the morning, Hydrocodone and three Ibuprofen deep. Throughout my wisdom teeth experience, from which I have finally recovered (eight days later), I found myself to be rather emotional. Here, I give you the seven hysterical, ridiculous things I cried about.

1. I missed my best friend from school.
On the short, eight-minute drive from the surgeon's office to my house, I somehow found it necessary to FaceTime my best friend and probably ramble on and on in sentences she couldn't even understand, coming out of my gauze-filled mouth. I missed her so much that I found it necessary to shed a couple tears. Mind you this was about twenty minutes post wisdom teeth removal.

2. My mom wanted me to eat yogurt.
As soon as I got to my house and sat down on the couch, the pain hit. Oh, and was it painful. My mom was running around the house trying to find the pack of gauze the doctors gave her to replenish the soggy, blood-filled ones I held out for her to take. My friend was sitting on the couch telling me to remove the beautiful Instagram selfies I found necessary to post. The next thing I knew my mom was trying to spoon yogurt into my mouth, and I was just not having it. Sorry, Carol.

3. It hurt.
About every thirty minutes, when it was time to change out the gauze in my mouth, I broke out into tears about how much it hurt. I knew that crying wasn't going to make it feel any better, but somehow, it kinda did.

4. My mom could not understand what I was saying.
Actually I didn't want seven pillows and an ice pack wrapped around my face, but thanks. My inability to communicate what I wanted, and moreover, what I didn't want, to my mom was so frustrating I guess drugged-up me thought that crying about it would make her more clearly understand. By the end of my crying spell both of us just stared at each other, equally confused.

5. They got infected.
By day five, I wasn't feeling anywhere near where I should have been. When the doctor poked and prodded at the back of my mouth and told me my mouth was infected, all I could do was cry, imagining several more days of this agony. When he prescribed me a stronger antibiotic that was the size of my thumb? Yeah, I cried then too.

6. It hurt.
Not only did the antibiotic have a stimulatory effect on me, causing me not to sleep, the pain was so awful that I found myself awake until almost five in the morning. What did I do as I prayed to God that he would soon end my pain? I cried. A lot.

So, In summary, I guess you could say the drugs have a sort of ... an emotional effect on me. Oh and by the way my 5 a.m. prayers to God did in fact work, it just took a couple days. Thank you, Jesus!

I hope your wisdom teeth experience is far less painful than mine, and that the antibiotics don't keep you (and your mom) awake into the wee hours of the morning.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
