College is stressful, we all know that. Sometimes it can be hard to find a way to wind down between heavy credit loads, clubs and other things we sign up for even though we know we don’t have time. But anyone who has had a pet in college has seen that they are probably the best thing you can do for yourself while in school.
1.) They are the perfect roommates.
Forget someone eating all your food and “forgetting” to do the dishes, a pet is the perfect roommate. They don’t make a mess, take up space, or accidentally "misplace" some of your favorite dishes or hand towels..Apart for the occasional needy-ness, a pet will do their things while you do yours.
2.) You’ll never be bored.
Any kind of pet will keep you on your toes. You never know what spastic, over the top random things they'll do next. It's like having that one friend who does and bunch of irresponsible and sometimes illegal stuff, without all of the responsibility of making sure they don't get in trouble.
3.) They are perfect for cuddling.
Whether they like it or not, they are your personal cuddle buddy for as long as you have them. If you’re feeling sad, angry, or just lonely, you always have someone to hold, even if they don’t want to be held. The best part about this is the only thing they expect in return for their love is food and the occasional belly rub.
4.) They know when your sad and will do anything to fix it.
Anyone who has a pet knows that you no longer have to be alone on those late night ice cream and Netflix binges. It's almost like your pet has a sixth sense that lets them know when they need to comfort you, and no matter what, they are always willing to give you love in abundance.
5.) Your pet will be your new best friend.
Your pet will become one of your favorite things to confide in, to hold when you're sad, and to be there when it seems like no one else is. You soon realize that you really don't need anyone else beside your favorite pet. They will help you through all the harsh realities of college and keep you sane through it all, even if they do get hair all over your favorite clothes and every single piece of furniture you own.
6.) You'll never go back to human roommates.
After you realize how easy going and drama-free pet ownership is, you'll never want to go back to living with actual people. You will soon realize that not only are pets eaiser to live with, but they also just understand you where people just cant. Now if we could only find a way to have them help us pay rent.
