6 Albums To Get You Through Finals

As another semester draws to a close, students will be spending a lot of time with their heads in books. What's one thing you need to motivate yourself for all that studying? A solid study soundtrack. Here are six recent albums to help you get through that final exam, busy work week, or scenic mountain road trip you always wanted to take.

1. "Currents" - Tame Impala

Currents is the third studio album from the Australian psychedelic rock and dream pop group, Tame Impala. The record is the brainchild of musical genius Kevin Parker, and it’s one of my favorites to come out of 2015. If finals are stressing you out, throw this on and float away on a dreamy cloud of synthesizers.

2. "Mr. Wonderful" - Action Bronson

The second album from Queens rapper Action Bronson does not disappoint. The record is filled with lyrical wit and soulful production. One track called “Baby Blue” features the one and only Chance the Rapper. If you listen closely, Bronson tells some good jokes that will take your mind off that economics exam.

3. "Badillac" - together PANGEA

Garage punkers together PANGEA wrote and recorded this one in Los Angeles. The result was 34 minutes of high energy rock ’n’ roll. Bang your head to “Cat Man” on full volume and tell me you don’t feel less frustrated about your three projects due this week.

5. "Wedding Bells EP" - Cashmere Cat

Cashmere Cat is a music production master who has found a sound all his own. This EP showcases his creativity and skill with melody and rhythm. I really don’t know anything else that sounds like it.

6. "TRAPSOUL" - Bryson Tiller

Another artist with his own sound, Bryson Tiller rocked the hip hop scene with his debut album, TRAPSOUL. The record is a beautiful clash of R&B, soul, and trap music — there’s something about those quick, melodic lines that I vibe.

7. "Back On Top" - The Front Bottoms

"Back On Top" is the fifth record from indie rock band The Front Bottoms. I saw them live at The Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge and was very impressed. I love frontman Brian Sella’s voice and discover new meaning in his lyrics every time I listen.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
