Whenever you ask someone about her, the responses range from “she has a heart of gold” to “she would take bullet for someone.” I have never met someone who doesn’t love her. But how can you not love my sister? She’s beautiful, selfless, compassionate and so many more things that I can’t even put into words.
I am blessed to have come into this world having an older sister. Of course I was given the gift of life but I was also given a best friend for life, all at the same time. I have loved you since the moment I met you and I can’t begin to describe how much my love has grown. You have been there for me through the best of times and through the worst of times. From laughing until our stomachs hurt to crying until there were no more tears left, everything I have ever needed I have found in you.
Of course we have had our fights, but there has never been a time where our bond has even come close to breaking. It breaks my heart to know that there are people in this world that are not close with their sister. I can’t live without you and after 18 years of living with you in the next room, not having you with me in this stage of my life is hard– but I am so happy to see you following your dreams. Now that we are living in different states, a piece of my heart is in Pennsylvania.
Of course there are a million things I can thank you for but I am just going to name a few. Thank you for being brave. You have set the greatest example for me to follow your heart no matter how scary the journey may be. Thank you for being my rock. Whether I needed advice on boys or just a shoulder to cry on, you were there. Thank you for making me laugh. Your “dancing” never fails to make me cackle. Thank you for loving me. Because there is no better love than the love of a sister.
I may not show it all the time but I am extremely grateful to have you as my older sister. I will always be there for you, even if it’s at 2 a.m. and you just want ice cream. I will always stick up for you. Let someone try me when it comes to you because they’ll lose. I will always love you, because there is no one I love more. Finally, I will always be your little sister. Sorry, but you’re stuck with me.
Here’s to the greatest times of our lives. Most of the milestones are going to be joyous like graduations and weddings. While others are going to be difficult like heartbreaks and losses. But I will always be there as your partner in crime, your confidant, your rock and of course, your little sister.
