A Thank You Letter to my Sisters in Crime

Sisters,

Here's a little thank you for being the best sisters around.

From Bid Day to now, I have been so thankful for being involved in the sorority. Each and everyone of you have impacted me in a way that has helped me mature little by little to become the woman I am meant to be.

You guys push me to succeed in academic and professional matters. You coach me to become the best student possible and also cheer me on when the coffee from the Bookmark Café isn't really helping me get my research paper done. I know that I can call on one of you to have a library date where we partially focus on the homework due at midnight.

Aside from hitting the books with me, you all are there to assure me everything is going to be just fine. Whether it's getting ice cream together, binge watching Grey's Anatomy, or just holding each other while we cry about something so stupid, I know I have you. The world seems like its crumbling around me and I want to just give up. But I know I can't, I know I won't. Why? Because you'll kick my ass if I give up. Sisters believe in each other and wish for each other to succeed.

Finally, you all teach me how to be the best version of me. I have struggled immensely with self-esteem issues, feeling like I never fit in anywhere. But joining the sisterhood made me realize that I may be weird and loud and that is totally okay because we are weird and loud together. I can embrace my dorkiness in front of you guys and you would join right in. *cue dancing lobsters sequence*

While girls get into fights over boys or who ate the last Oreo, we are sisters who get over that stupid stuff. And while many say they wish fights would never happen, I say no. Fights make relationships stronger and help people mature. So with every argument we have just know this. I am sorry that I am acting like this and know that I love you.

And there's nothing like the love shared between sisters. We're more than friends; we're all geeks who love Dr. McDreamy and share the secrets of our sisterhood. Secrets that unify us all together no matter what chapter we are at. And to me, that's pretty legit.

One love,

Your fellow sista friend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
