Your Mother is Not Always Right

This must be a huge surprise right? Cue the eye roll.

Does it make us terrible daughters when we find enjoyment in our mothers miss calculations? Who cares! It feels awesome! Because you get to wear that smug little smile (when she’s not looking of course) for a whole week! You may even do a little happy dance when you first realize it. Though our mothers are never happy about being wrong, it makes us feel awesome. It’s almost like realizing that you are now an adult! Then she tells you to go clean your room and then that all goes out the window. If you, like me grew up with a mother that was always right then you know the joy of her being wrong. Even if you’re not right either! You’re just happy that she was wrong too! If by some strange magical force you are actually right, the world becomes just that much more beautiful. Why does it make us feel like an adult you might ask, (If you didn’t I don’t care, I’m telling you anyways) because as kids we were always wrong and she never was, even when she was, she wasn’t. Remember how frustrating that was? I do! But now we actually have the thought process to provide a valid argument or enough brainpower to realize she isn’t actually right. While also having the respect for her not to rub her nose in it, yes that is also part of being an adult. To all the mothers that may have gotten a hold of this (hi mom) please don’t take it personally. We really love you! We just need you to be wrong sometimes. We need to know that we can be right too. Its good for us to know that we aren’t always making the worst decision of or lives every day. You being wrong helps us see that for some reason or another. It gives us confidence in the choices that we make, but that you might not approve of. Like the little dress that you though wouldn’t be flattering, but then I step into it and BAM I’m fabulous. It’s very nice for the ego. Now don’t take this the wrong way, we still want your opinion, we just also have one of our own. Though we may respect your opinion, its not always the one we want. So please just bare with us and remember, you’re happy when your mom’s wrong too. But we all know, Grandma’s always right.

Your Mother is Not Always Wrong

She doesn’t have to say it, but you know she is thinking, “I told you so”. Moms do sometimes know best and we would be wise to listen to them on things that are important. They have a lot more experience then we do. Yes growing up for them is a lot different then growing up for us, but the principals are the same. Moms are probably our greatest guides in this thing called life. Are they always right? Absolutely not, but they do what they do to add value to your life and keep you safe. I know its not always fun to listen to mom, but it can help you in the long run. So I suggest that you set up a mother daughter date with her at least every other week. If you live in the same house with her, wake up early to do an activity with her or take time out of your evening to have a cup of sweet tea or hot chocolate with her. I would suggest writing up a list of topics before hand and remember what you want to stay away from. Just a heads up, she probably has her own list full of the things you don’t want to talk about. First on her list is probably your relationship status. Be honest and give as little detail as you can, I don’t know is a great answer because its probably true. If you do have interest in a guy, talk to her about it and take any advice she gives you with a grain of salt. I hate to break it to you but chances are you will not have the same love life as your mother. So don't take her story and try to mimic it. Feel free to fall in love your own way.

Lots of love

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
