Some of us are in beautiful relationships, and that's really cool.

Being in love/in lust/in like is definitely something that can be respected. Some of us are not that lucky, and have not been in a while.

But being single isn't all bad, in fact there are more pros than there are cons:

1. Cuddling is nice, but have you heard of an electric blanket?

There is nothing nicer than turning that thing all the way up and getting into bed with a hot mug in your hand.

2. Chocolate is way better when it's 50% off.

February 15th is a better date anyway.

3. Saving. Money.

One less Christmas gift, one less birthday gift, one less anniversary gift, one less Valentine's day, one less set of flowers for their mother's birthday. You know what you can spend that money on? You.

4. Not shaving your legs.

What's it been? Two weeks? A month? A lifetime? As long as you're comfy, who cares?

5. Work ambition.

It's time to advance your career. You can go anywhere you want to go, work as much as you want, and just be a total badass.

6. Control of the remote.

"Grey's Anatomy" marathon every day for a week? Sounds good.

7. You learn to love being alone.

Is this your 'restorative solitude' phase?

8. You get to experience love in so many different ways.

Pizza and puppies. Mostly pizza.

9. Taking up the whole bed.

It's called a 'queen' bed for a reason right?

10. You can be gross without shame.

Gotta burp? Do it. Poop? Do it with the door open. Hungry? Destroy that burrito in .2 seconds. No one is around to make judgements.

11. You learn to love yourself!

You don't need a romantic relationship to be totally fulfilled. Your self love can be incredibly rewarding. You are incredibly reliable to you. Put on that dress that makes you feel good and have yourself a great girls night out. Treat yourself!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
