It's that time of the year again: fall air, sweaters and cardigans, pumpkin spice lattes and those cheesy Instagram photos of couples going apple picking. Yuck. Everyone is catching the craze of finding a partner during this time of year. One to share a cup of hot chocolate, to watch a football game, to dress up in matching Halloween costumes and take those corny Instagram pictures. For all the singles out there, here are the pros of not getting cuffed during "cuffing season".
1. More hot chocolate (and food in general) for you
When there's no one to share it with, you can drink enough hot chocolate for two! Also a plus - no one will be there to judge you for eating all of it either.
2. Sleeping in your bed alone
One of the simple pleasures in life is having a bed all to yourself, even if you don't necessarily need all the space, you are able to move and flop all you wish.
3. Less likely to have plans
You're lying if you say you've never secretly hoped for plans to get canceled so you can stay in without guilt. Without a bae, those plans won't even be made to begin with!
4. Saving money
The money spent around this time of year on gifts adds up. First, you have the holiday season filled with Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. Then, Valentine's Day comes out of no where and hits you. Better off saving all that money spent on gifts for your BFFs and family.
5. Skipping the awkward "family dinners"
Going over your significant other's home for Thanksgiving, the holidays, etc., leads to some pretty awkward family dinners. Whether it's your first time meeting the rents or your 100th time going over, sitting down the whole family is a stomach-turner.
6. Nights out
Going out is a breeze when you don't have to worry about checking your phone constantly.
7. Last minute decisions
Randomly decide you want to study abroad? Feel like taking an internship in a different city? Your opportunities are endless when you can decide on your own whim.
8. Oh, the endless amount of free time
It's stressful enough to manage your time between school, work, friends and family. Having an extra person to spend a constant amount of time with during the week takes up more from your schedule than you think.
9. Stress free lifestyle
With all the free time you have, your life overall becomes stress free. There isn't an extra person to fight with, an extra event you need to attend, etc.
10. Finding yourself
You have the rest of your life, if you choose, to settle down and be with someone. You only have a certain amount of time to truly be alone and find yourself.
At the end of the day, independence is a beautiful thing that shouldn't be taken for granted. Yes, it's easy to become jealous of those #couplegoals flashed on all social media, but being on your own isn't the worst thing in the world. Enjoy it while you can.
