Tis the season of long rehearsals, strained voices, and sick dance moves. Baylor All University Sing has been a longstanding tradition for over 60 years. There are no words for truly how competitive Sing has become. Back in 1953, in the early years of Sing, no one would have ever imagined that the seventeen person crowd would one day turn into a massive crowd consisting of thousands of alumni, students, and families. It's hard to believe that groups of college age men and women actually want to perform (and fight for a spot in the Homecoming Pigskin Revue). It is VERY impressive and entertaining seeing fraternity boys become so competitive about dancing and singing. Nothing can really be compared to Sing, it is an event like no other and draws a large crowd back to the University. No one besides Baylor students and alumni will ever really understand the true greatness of Sing...
This list is dedicated to all Sing participants, past and present, I'm sure in many ways you can relate.
1. Those days when you just really don't want to go to Sing practice...
2. When you hear people hate on your Sing theme or your Sing theme from previous years.
3. When you realize your Sing costume fits a little too snug...
4. When you hear the phrase "BE QUIET" and "SHHHHHH" 1000 times at practice... Sorry sing chairs, you may be dealing with the most talkative chapter. Ever.
.
5. When you realize you are about to perform in front of thousands of people.
6. When you're on stage and someone is not in the right spot and you get hit...but you have to stay in character and not show it on your face.
8. When Test week hits you REALLY hard and you want to skip practice...but you can't take those absences (or FINES)
9. When you realize that Sing is just around the corner and that you really need to get in shape.
10. When your act finally starts to become less shambley and starts to come together resembling more of an actual performance.
11. When you hear how good other organizations acts are supposed to be...but that's okay..
12. When you get the rush after your first actual Sing performance on stage.
13. When your final sing performance is over and you left it all out on the stage.
It may seem like a very long and tiring process, but in the end performing with your friends will be one of the most memorable experiences. Thank you Baylor for the opportunity to be apart of one of the greatest Baylor traditions. Best of luck to each and every Sing Act. SIC 'EM BEARS & SIC 'EM SING.
