Signs You're Not Ready For Fall

Summer can't be over yet.

Summer is my favorite season. I love the heat, the pool, and the clothes. If the temperature never got below 70 degrees, I would be happy. I'm not ready for Fall. I didn't even bring jeans to school yet, but the cool weather is already rolling in. Here are some signs you aren't ready for Fall:

1. You're eating snow cones every day.

After Summer ends, all of the snow cone places will disappear, so you're going to eat as many tropical flavored snow cones as possible while you still can.

2. You refuse to start wearing jeans.

50 degrees is still shorts weather in your book. If you don't dress for Fall, then it's not fall.

3. You drown yourself in coconut and pineapple scents.

Sure, Fall smells are pretty nice, but you have to get your use out of your tropical smells before it's too late. Time to lather on the coconut shampoo, pineapple conditioner, summer breeze lotion, and beach wave body spray.

4. You're still working on your tan.

You have to get a solid tan before Winter turns you into a pasty snowflake, even if that means laying out in the sun and freezing.

5. You're only halfway done with your Summer bucket list.

Summer flew by and now you only have a few days left to do all of the things you wanted to do over the summer.

6. You're still buying watermelon and pineapple.

You can tell that they're no longer in season, but you buy them anyway because they're your favorite fruits and they can't be bad yet.

7. You just bought more ice pops.

In your defense, they were on sale.

8. You have plans to go to a water park.

Even though it's September, you found a water park that's still open on weekends, and you're planning to drag your friends there before it closes.

9. Your collection of water balloons is growing.

They were also on sale. You never know when you're going to want to have a big water balloon fight.

10. Your summer reading list is growing.

After you finish one book, you add another. If you don't scratch "Summer" off the top of the list, then it's still summer, right?

11. You take day trips to the beach.

Beaches don't close for the Fall, so why should you stop going to them? Towel in hand and swimsuit on, you wade into the ocean telling yourself that the icy water is refreshing.

12. When you're not at the beach, you're at the indoor pool.

The chlorine burns your nose, but as long as you get to swim, you're happy.

13. You're in denial.

Despite all of the pumpkin spice flavored sweets, the Halloween decorations in the stores, and people wearing jeans and sweaters, you're wearing flip flops and eating ice cream.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
