Calvert County, a place I've been for only seven years. It's crazy because immediately after we moved here, I felt so comfortable, even though it was a new place to me. Even though I am not "from" Calvert County, I choose to call it my home. Home is where the heart is, and Calvert County has my heart.
Here are just a few things that you can relate to if you live in good ole Cal-co:
Being out of town and driving down long roads with farms, feeling like you're home.
Ahh, the fresh scent of cow manure.
Walking into the Grille and seeing it's packed.
Just drive over to Walmart for a few minutes and come back, then you can get your mac and cheese or old bay wings. I didn't drive to Dunkirk for nothin'!
Old Bay sits on your table all year round.
Not just for crabs, oh no. Potatoes, popcorn, tacos, pasta, etc.
You know at least one person whose family owns a business.
From restaurants to automotive shops. That's my boyfriend's dad's shop. Best mechanic in Calvert County!
Not having to drive far for a beautiful view.
You learn to appreciate sunrises and sunsets more when you live close to the water. On a clear day you can see the Bay Bridge across the water!
The light at 260 and 2.
Alright let's decide if I want to be an a**hole today and race the car next to me.
The crab stickers.
At least one person you know has one.
Wawa.
You can't even categorize Wawa food with gas station food. If I'm hungry and can't decide what I want, Wawa is always there for me with endless options, even though I always get the mac and cheese and chicken noodle soup. Oh and you'll most likely see someone you know every time you go there, so if you're antisocial like me, keep your head down and wear some shades.
Those are just a few things all Calvert County residents can relate to. If you can, share this article and what you're favorite thing about Calvert is!
