As a biotechnology student I get a lot of questions, and weird looks when I answer them. Being in biotech makes you look at the world differently than most people.
1. To you science never goes too far.

2. GMOs are not only encouraged, but you're the one making them.
3. Google always corrects eDNA to Edna.
4. You only get a break when you're running the thermo cycler or gels (and that's if your lucky).

5. Finding primers are the bain to your existence.

6. Being told to choose a bacteria with a lower biosafety level.
7. You're far from a germaphobe...
8. But a you must have sterile environment to conduct your research.

9. You find role models in famous scientists rather than celebrities.
10. A day out at the lake means collect water samples and/or measuring turbidity.

11. Agar and agarose are very different things…
12. And you can never have too much of either.
13. You're always on the side of science.

14. You want to keep bacteria alive.
15. PCR, RNA and gDNA are normal parts of your vocabulary.
16. Master mix running out can slow down your whole day.

17. There's always something to autoclave.
18. Purifying plasmids takes the whole period.
19. There is no failure, only learning what not to do.

20. Collecting data is a weekly occurrence.
21. You can do molar conversions in your head.
22. Constantly debating the ethics of science.

23. People don't always understand you, but you wouldn't have it any other way.
