We all have our person. Sometimes it's a significant other. Sometimes it's a parent. Sometimes it's a friend. It can also be your pet. After all, he's the one who's stuck with you through thick and thin and really does love you unconditionally. Here are some signs that your pet is actually the most important person in your life.
1. They're the first one you want to see when you come home from college.
Ah, finally home. It's been...four months? Hi, Mom. WHERE'S THE DOG? WHERE ARE YOU, MY DEAR? Wait, Mom, did you say something?
2. Your pet is the one you've missed the most.
#sorrynotsorry
3. You communicate with some people only through pictures of your pet.
For instance, when you only talk to your mom when she has a new picture of the cat to send you.
4. And you show those pictures to everyone who will look (and everyone who won't but you force it down their throat anyway).
Like how Patrick shows off Spongebob and his ugliness.
5. People who have never even met your pet know their name and their entire life story.
Oh, you're talking about your dog? She's a golden retriever, right? And her name is Lacy, right? Didn't she literally eat your homework once and always sits on your bed when you're trying to do work and goes swimming in your pool and stole a soccer ball from your neighbor in a really funny way once three years ago? You may have mentioned her before.
6. Nap time wouldn't be the same without them.
7. You're not even mad when they take up most of the bed. Which they do. Every. Single. Time.
You want that side? Okay, I'll just.....oh, you want that side too. It's okay. I'll just sleep on the floor. You do you.
8. You treat them like the king of the house.
9. You make excuses for their behavior.
My cat didn't actually bite you. I know it looks like he bit you, but I promise it was out of love. And, I mean, even if he did bite you, it was probably your fault. You were egging him on. What else was he supposed to do? Don't be mad at him. Be mad at yourself. How dare you? Wait, where are you going?
10. It breaks your heart whenever they're mad at you.
Sometimes this happens when you've gone away for awhile and you come back to an animal with an attitude. Or you accidentally step on their tail and they cry and you want to cry.
11. You have cat/dog/pet furniture or memorabilia everywhere.
No matter how terrifying it may be.
12. Sometimes you can't even tell if people live in your house.
Believe it or not, there are humans here, too.
13. They're the first family member you introduce people to when you have company over.
Welcome to my home! Have you met my cat? Where is he? He's really friendly, I promise. I don't know why he's hiding. Who's that? Oh, that's my brother. You can ignore him. We really just need to find my cat first.
14. And your voice immediately goes five octaves higher whenever you talk to them. No exceptions.
Like John Travolta if he were talking to a baby or a really cute pug.
15. If your pet doesn't approve of someone you bring home, you immediately grow suspicious.
I should have known it wasn't going to work out.
16. You think that living alone with them forever wouldn't be the end of the world.
17. You go to them with all of your problems because you know they'll listen.
I just had, like, a really bad day, you know? I was late for school, and that exam didn't go well, and that boy was being dump and annoyed me again. Typical boy, right?
*dog stares back confused*
Ugh, you're such a good listener, Max. You just get me.
18. Staying in with them is always a viable option.
19. And sometimes when you're out, all you want to do is spend some quality time with bae.
Bye, guys. I have more important things to do.
20. You love them probably a little too much.
People may judge you, but don't let them. They just don't understand.
21. You're proud when someone says you're obsessed with your pet.
I'm in love with my pet and I'm proud.
