Are you wondering whether or not you're an old soul? Are you thinking it's not very "cool" to like dated fashion trends, aged items, or enjoy older traditions?

If you are thinking this way, don't!

Having an old soul is a wonderful thing. Embrace it. Love it. Be proud of it.

Not quite sure if you're an old soul, though? That's okay! Check out this handy dandy "old soul" checklist!

You're an old soul if...

1. You use words like "handy dandy."

And however.

2. Materialism isn't your thing.

You're simplistic.

3. You enjoy listening to music on mediums other than your iPhone.

Vinyl. Vinyl. Vinyl.

4. You are frequently convinced that you were born in the wrong generation.

Just a few years too late.

5. People have even said, "You were definitely born in the wrong generation."

RIGHT?!?

6. You have a Type-A personality.

Writing things down is the only way you'll learn and remember important information.

7. You'd rather be holding an old book, smelling its crinkled pages, then be reading texts off of a computer.

It's soothing.

8. You're aware of the world around you.

Very aware.

9. You enjoy fashion trends from previous decades.

High-waisted anything, long skirts, swing dresses, pleated sleeves, etc.

10. Literature and history are kind of your thing.

To you, they are fascinating.

11. You aren't a fan of the 21st-century music blaring from your stereo.

You enjoy old-timey tunes OR artists who have old-fashioned undertones and infections.

12. You believe in old-fashioned principles of love.

Yes, he should open the door for you.

13. You're an early bird.

Up by 7 or 8 am.

14. And you usually aren't up past 11 pm.

It's almost impossible to even be up that late.

15. Fast-paced life is a no go.

Of course, you're able to get things done and be pulled in 17 different directions if life calls for it, but you would much rather be in a calm state of mind.

16. You 100% trust your gut feelings. No matter what.

You always listen to it.

17. Or in other words, you're pretty introspective.

You're reflective.

18. You enjoy being alone sometimes.

Not all of the time, but sometimes.

19. You express high levels of empathy.

You're able to try and at least understand what someone is going through, even if you've never experienced it yourself.

And you wish more people had this capacity.

20. You're pretty eccentric but still traditional.

You're a little different than most people, but still have traditional values.

21. Nostalgia, to you, is very powerful.

You LOVE it.

If you made it through this list, it looks like you're an old soul!

Welcome to the club, friend!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
