Throughout our dating lives, we will encounter many guys who, later on down the road, will make us seriously question our judgement. It can be hard to decipher between the good guy and the bad guy. Sometimes we mistake "Mr. Right" for "Mr. Right Now." I am here to give you a few tell-tale signs that he is the wrong guy.
1. He is mean to his mother
Any guy who disrespects the woman who gave him life is not going to treat you any better. If he speaks horribly to his own mom, he is bound to speak to you in the same way.
2. He never takes you out on a date.
Sitting on his couch making out does NOT count as a date. You don't need him to take you out on his boat on a lake full of swans, but you do deserve dinner and a movie every once in a while. He may not be Noah and you may not be Allie, but he should not treat you as if you're only in his life for a hook-up.
3. He calls you "dude"
Let's face it, he's not going to marry one of his bros. You're better off getting out now.
4. He pressures you into doing things you're not ready for.
If he really loves you, he's never going to make you have sex before you're ready. If he really can't wait, end it. The right guy will wait a million years for you.
5. He calls you "hot" and never "pretty."
It may sound like I'm being picky, but this is a major key. Only ever referring to you as "hot" is a sure sign that he is as shallow as a kiddie pool.
6. Your dad doesn't like him.
Obviously this is not the 50s, and your dad doesn't get to pick who courts you; but if he is not making an effort to earn daddy's respect, he isn't going to put in effort when times get tough.
7. He calls his ex a whore every chance he gets.
Do you really think she was a whore? I mean really, she more than likely loved him too much and he more than likely broke her heart. Odds are, he is also going to refer to you as "that slut" or "crazy whore" the minute you break things off.
8. He constantly puts you down.
Your significant other should NEVER insult your body or your mind. This type of behavior is simply unacceptable, and honey, you need to leave to shine like the diamond you are.
9. He has his ears pierced.
There really is no logical explanation for this one...just trust me.
10. He has an intense jealous side.
You should be allowed to maintain your relationships with your guy friends without him throwing a temper tantrum every time they are in your presence. Insane jealousy is a sign of being insecure.
11. He stares at his hair in the mirror for 20 minutes telling you how good it looks.
Truthfully, you probably thought his new haircut looked super hot. That is, until he fixed it in the mirror a million times because he is so deeply in love with himself. Unless he's Danny from "Grease", this is a major turnoff. Sadly, he probably doesn't love you half as much as he loves himself.
12. He refuses to commit.
Commitment is really not that hard/scary if he truly cares about you. Also, if his excuse consists anything along the lines of "I just don't wanna hurt you" or "I'm afraid of cheating on you," that is total bull-shit and you deserve the world.
You may be worried that every man is doomed to behave this way, but I promise they don't all act like this. Most guys will also end up growing out of these awful habits, and possibly become the man of your dreams. Just wait it out, your Prince Charming is on his way. He just got lost and refuses to ask for directions.
