10 Signs You Have An Extremely Close Hall

Having a good hall can totally enhance your freshman experience. I love my hall and could not imagine not spending 24/7 with these gals.

1. You have a group chat. And it is awesomely named.

You have some inside jokes that began the friendship. And the best one of these jokes is the name of your chat.

2. You eat all your meals together and never stop eating

The pantry in Markley is your second home and dinner is at sharply 6 every night. You have to grab the biggest table you can find always. And everyone is jealous of all the friends you sit and eat with.

3. You always know when your hallmates have a test or are stressed

And since you're super close, you get them snacks and make them laugh while they studying.

4. There's always a pregame in the hall

And you all smush into a 11x12 dorm and try to “keep it down” so you don’t get any noise complaints.

5. Homework with the hall is so much more bearable

Company makes all the difference especially when they are your neighbors whom you are always around!

6. You had a kick-ass Secret Santa exchange.

A funny gift, a good gift, and a nice gift cause we thought it all out and know each other well enough to get thoughtful gifts!

7. You are always with someone from your hall.

You walk to class with them, you grab food, you go to the library or the lounge; really whatever you're doing, you always have a buddy!

8. You meet up at frats or bars despite being in a different sorority or other groups.

You know that our bond is so strong we can't be separated. And what’s better than getting walk back to the same home at night cause you live in the place?

9. Movie nights in the lounge and staying up late for no reason is a common occurrence.

Playing euchre or doing anything to distract from work or sleep are fun ways to pass time!

10. Other halls are extremely jealous of how close you all are.

If your hall doesn’t get along, it’s hard to see a hall that has it all! But it’s just a freshman experience so I promise your hall has some of the coolest gals from all over and all it takes is a few convos to form those friends forever!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
