On Saturday, January 21st the Women’s Marches happened all over the country, and there has been plenty of coverage on news networks and on your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds about the size, signs, nudity, and speakers in p*ssy hats. I however, am still at a loss for what exactly they are protesting or what they think is soooo unfair or oppressive about the country in which they live. I do know that these “NASSSSSTYY” women are “AAAANGRY!”

But they don't seem to be angry about this...

In a story by France24, posted on December 19, 2016, it was revealed what it is like for women to step outside in Sevran, France. Yes, France, a western world power. Women around the U.S. were protesting “injustice” and “oppression” in our country when there has been a alarming rise of real, serious oppression, intimidation, and injustice in the lives of the women of France.

The video below tells the story.

As a woman, this video news piece is extremely difficult to watch.

This is a true sign of regression in Western Culture, yet this is not what is running on BBC, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, or any of the other alphabet soup news organizations.

Aziza Sayah and Nadia Remadna, activists and members of “The Mothers Brigade” are fighting to regain their freedom to visit public spaces in the town of Sevran, France -- guys, this is in FRANCE!!When the two women attempt to enter a café during the afternoon with a hidden camera they are hassled and told by one man, "It would be best if you waited outside ... because there are just men here." Another insists that, “Here, we do things like in our home countries.”

In a neighboring Paris suburb, a young nursery school aid talks to reporters as she takes her child for a walk in a stroller saying, “We wear dark clothes, trousers, no skirts, no obvious makeup. Red lipstick is out of the question. We erase ourselves; try to be the most discrete possible. When asked why, she says, “Because we are scared. Simple as that.”

Many women in certain suburbs make an effort take regular outings and organize marches in large groups in order to show a force in regaining their access to public spaces. They say they want to encourage Muslim women to join. However, when questioned, one woman’s answered “We would like to (mix), but we have religious convictions which say that women shouldn’t really mix. Actually, they shouldn’t at all! Mixing is not allowed in fact.” She was then deterred from going on as there were local men watching as she was interviewed saying, “You can see they’re not happy about us talking. Check the dirty looks.”

What is happening in Europe?

There have been similar things happening in the UK, where there are areas that are reportedly overrun by refugees that the police are reluctant to visit. Consider the issues in Germany, and elsewhere in Europe, where there has been a growing sense of unrest amid a wave of reports of violence, rape, and sexual assault since the New Year's Eve Cologne attacks.

Meanwhile, in the US, women are mad because Trump made a disgusting, crude, and inappropriate remark about grabbing a woman by the p*ssy years ago. And yet the same outraged women want to embrace refugees and a culture that ACTUALLY promotes men grabbing women by the p*ssy. How on earth does that make any sense?

If anyone has the answer, Ashley Judd? Lena Dunham? Madona? Let me know.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
