I can't think of anyone who actually enjoys being sick. You have 5,000,000 other things you have to get done, and blowing your nose every five minutes is not one of them. However, there’s normally a few steps you go through every time when dealing with it. Whether it’s actually the most successful process or not is up for debate.
1. You deny it.
It’s just allergies, or maybe a change in the weather. You'll be okay by the end of the day.
2. You start taking the exact amount of over-the-counter medicine to make you feel better, but not kill you.
Okay so it’s been a day or two and you're not getting any better. If anything, it’s gotten worse, but you're still good. No need to panic. DayQuil is like duck tap - it fixes everything.
3. Drinking your weight in water hoping it will cleanse everything out.
Maybe you can flush the sickness out of your system? Like a cleanse detox, but without the fancy juices. Never mind the fact that you'll be hitting up the bathroom every 10 minutes.
4. Maxing out on Vitamin C.
By this point, you've admitted that it's not just allergies.
It’s also at this point that you start popping three Emergen-C packets a day, hoping that the vitamins will somehow kill whatever virus is attacking you. (Life hack: this actually
helps a lot. It typically reduces my sick time by at least a couple of days).
5. You finally just accept it.
Fine, body. You win. You're sick. I guess this is what I get for not taking my multivitamin everyday.
6. You mope about everything.
Why do I, out of all people, have to be sick right now? Forget that there are other's in the world that are dealing with WAY more serious problems... But why me? (Yes, this is actually from Private Practice, but I mean – it's still all shondaland, right?)
7. Stressing out.
You literally don't have time for this. You have two tests to study for and you've already used all your class absences. Have you ever tried to sit through a lecture when you're coughing up a lung? Yeah, it sucks.
8. You get desperate and start looking up, "home remedies".
You're pretty over it at this point, so you'll do anything. I've tried multiple herbal tea concoctions in my day.
9. Appreciate all the times you weren't sick.
Why was I never grateful for all the times I could actually breathe out of my nose?
10. Take some, "me" time.
You finally just say, "forget it" and use this time to binge watch that Netflix series you've been meaning to tackle.
11. You finally start feeling better.
And while you're thankful that you're no longer sick, you kind of wish you still had the excuse to stay in bed all day.
