Everyone gets in one of those moods, where you've had a rough week or maybe just a long day and want to relax. You don't want to do any more productive work or even socialize with anyone for a while, but just want to spend quality time with your Netflix account, allowing it to entertain you while your brain takes a well-needed rest. Since I've started college I've noticed my desire to take this binge-watch time much more often, because of how often I am constantly in movement--between classes, work, homework, and outside activities. It's normal to just want to be alone with your favorite fictional characters and unwind from reality for a while. In my personal opinion, the best way to do this is by logging into your Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime/whatever else there is in existence and watch one or all of the following shows (in no particular order):
1. The Office
Whether it's your first time or your ninth time watching the series -- you can't go wrong with this show; it's a classic. It's heartwarming and hilarious at the same time. Michael Scott's jokes just get funnier with age and I don't think a little Jim Halpert eye candy ever made anyone's day worse.
2. Sex and the City
How can you have a bad day when you're watching Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha live their best lives in the city? If you love inappropriate jokes and New York City as much as I do, you cannot overlook a binge watch of this show. There is so much girl power and amazing 90's fashion -- every part of it is feel-good.
I don't care if you're a Shonda fan or not, this show is about as addicting as your favorite coffee order. All the intelligent and motivated doctors actually make me feel inspired to become something amazing after binge-watching this. Also, literally everyone on the show is hot. Every single person.
4. Friends
I've probably seen every episode of this show at least 20 times each and can recite almost every punch line, but I still laugh at every joke every time I see it. Friends is an instant pick-me-up for everyone because it's inarguably hilarious, and pretty much everyone can relate one of the six friends to themselves.
5. New Girl
Jess's quirky personality will literally always lift your spirits, without a doubt. Plus the dynamic that exists among all the roommates will make you feel like you're living in the loft with them, and you're loving every minute of it.
6. Any HGTV Show
Alright, I know what you're thinking: HGTV is for middle aged suburban moms. And you're not wrong. However, sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up from white cabinet and marble countertop aesthetics. Or maybe you want to feel like you're traveling the world when watching House Hunters International. Trust me on this; this network is addicting and so pleasing.
7. Parks and Recreation
Not only is this series the birthplace of the catchphrase that is now my favorite excuse to online shop and eat extra dessert, its episodes make me laugh every time. The characters in this show feel like your good friends and their unique personalities make you want to see more of them. It's guaranteed that you will be in a good mood while watching.
8. Phineas and Ferb
Remember this fact about television and remember it well: just because it's a cartoon aired on a children's network, doesn't mean it's exclusively for children. The humor used in Phineas and Ferb is unlike any other Disney Channel show; it's genuinely funny. Its clever, sarcastic, and dry humor make me laugh out loud at 18 years old and I don't feel in the least bit ashamed about it.
9. Criminal Minds
The best way to avoid your problems is by getting absorbed in fictional ones, right? Every episode of this show is super suspenseful and the characters' colorful personalities always leave you craving more. An inevitable binge-watch.
10. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
You can't help but feel at home in Paddy's Pub. Every member of the crew starts to feel like your own group of friends the more you watch, and getting completely invested in the series isn't difficult. Laughter is guaranteed from every episode, so it'll definitely bring your spirits up.
11. Saturday Night Live
While SNL isn't exactly your typical binge-watch show, you could definitely binge-watch skits on Youtube when you need a laugh. It made the list because it is always a pick-me-up. SNL is an absolute classic and is there for you every week with new skits, promising relatable scripts and relevant jokes.
