Most of the arguments against Donald Trump start and end with “he’s a racist/misogynist/terrible person.” While I’m under the belief that these claims have a lot of truth to them, it’s important to understand what makes Trump so malicious.
It shouldn’t be necessary to write an attack piece on a politician, and my intention is not to make somebody feel stupid for supporting Donald Trump. However, due to the fact that he is the current GOP front-runner, I believe that it’s immensely important to write such a piece.
For the purpose of giving accurate information, every claim about Trump will be hyperlinked in this article.
For one, we must understand that when people say that Donald Trump is a racist, they aren’t lying to make him look bad. You can get technical about what it truly means to be a racist, but the fact is this: Donald Trump portrays highly questionable (such as implying most immigrant Mexicans are rapists, murderers or criminals), offensive, (such as reposting a fake study that claims that 81 percent of murders involving white people are committed by black people), and terrible views about minorities in our country.
Ignoring the lunacy of how ineffective plans like “build a giant wall” and “find all the illegal immigrants and deport them” are, we can see simply from the way that Trump speaks that he feels immensely loathsome toward many minorities. His heavy claims that immigrants commit a ton of crimes can also be proven false using statistical analysis.
Now, the concept of Donald Trump being a misogynist is also one that has verifiable evidence behind it. The amount of shockingly offensive comments he has directed toward women are immense. It is well documented that Trump has referred to numerous women as pigs, slobs, dogs, and many more disgusting comments. At the first GOP debate, Trump was questioned about his past with offensive comments toward women. His response after the debate?
To imply that the moderator was on her period.
Third, the idea of Donald Trump being discriminatory against other religions is also true if you take the time to logically contemplate his ideas. In light of the recent terrorist attacks around the world, Trump has called for a ban on all non-American Muslims from entering America until ISIS is defeated.
The major problem with this proposition is that it presumes that a large majority of Muslims are terrorists or have violent inclinations. There are few things more illogical than stereotyping an entire group of people based on the fanatical actions of a certain few. Trump willfully ignores the fact that there are millions upon millions of peaceful Muslims living all across the world.
If we take a broader look, we can also consider how Trump’s ban on Muslims would impact the American culture. In a time when misinformation and hatred is being spewed about Islam from every direction, how would this ban impact how Americans see the peaceful Muslims living in our country?
Now, let’s pretend that Donald Trump was none of the things that I listed above. He is not racist, misogynistic, or bigoted toward other belief systems. In fact, let’s pretend that Donald Trump is actually an incredibly fantastic person with a sincere will to help America.
He still has absolutely none of the qualifications or the skills needed to be an effective president. His political experience is virtually zero, and his plans are incredibly, ridiculously filled with holes. For example, his proposed tax plan would increase the deficit by an estimated 10 trillion dollars – a reality that Trump has also refused to address.
Much debate goes on about whether or not Trump was able to successfully manage his businesses, but this argument misses the point entirely. Regardless of whether or not Donald Trump has successfully managed businesses, that in no way qualifies him to run the entire country.
To be a good president means the ability to be objective, fair-minded, and assertive. It means to have a broad and complex understanding of the problems facing our country, and to not blame all of the problems in the world on certain minorities.
Donald Trump fits none of the criteria.
