Short People Problems

There are a lot of awesome things about being short, however, there are also many struggles. Coming from someone that is just barely five feet tall, sometimes reaching the top shelf or finding clothes that fit seems impossible. Here are 10 short people problems I am sure you can relate to if you're a little vertically challenged like me:

1. When even the short people jeans are too long.

2. Reaching the top shelf is never an easy task.

3. Your tall friends think it's funny to use your head as an armrest.

4. You always seem to be running to keep up with people.

5. Driving isn't the easiest task.

6. You always seem to need a step stool.

7. You always find yourself rolling up your pants because they never fit right.

8. People always comment on how short you are.

9. You bought a prom dress knowing you would have to get it shortened.

10. Shirts are dresses on you.

11. When you high 5 tall people they think it's funny to reach their arm as high as they can to watch you jump.

12. When people hug you your face is squished into their boobs.

13. There are 5th graders taller than you.

14. People always think you're 5 years younger than you actually are.

15. When you wear high heels people say you're "nearly normal people height".

16. You always have to sit in the front of classrooms to see the board.

17. People always lean down when they take pictures with you.

18. Having to pray tall people don't sit in front of you when you go to the movies.

19. You always have to ask tall people for help when you are hanging up posters on your wall.

20. Getting onto the raised beds at college is a struggle.

21. You have to beg people to hold you on their shoulders at concerts so you can see.

22. People always push into you in large crowds because they can't see you.

23. You always find yourself climbing on top of the aisles at grocery stores to reach the item you want.

24. When you go to amusement parks your friends always joke that you won't be able to go on all the rides.

25. You stand on your tippy toes in pictures to look taller.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
