Which is better, really?

An opposing match-up since the invention of scissors: is it better to have short hair or long hair? Ask twenty different people and you will get twenty different answers, especially factoring in what’s on trend at the time. So this makes people wonder if short hair is better, or should you grow those locks out to kingdom come? While there might not be a right or wrong answer, there are some things to factor in when chopping off that man bun or mermaid braid.

The pros of short hair

Less hair, more hair products – Cutting your hair short means that you don’t use as much hair product. Sure you still go about your daily hair care routine, but you are using a lot less of it. Less hair means you don’t need to use as much shampoo, conditioner, mousse etc., which is great! You will get more bang for your buck when buying hair care products, and who doesn’t love saving money?

Easy to style – Having short hair means there is less of it, so there is less to style. It takes mere minutes to run a straightener or styling crème to it. You are ready to go in a snap, which is ideal for those of you that like to hit the snooze button more than once. It can take forever to curl long hair, and by that point who cares? With short hair you can be ready and look great in a snap!

Look great not styled – Even if you don’t have time, or don’t care enough, to style your hair you don’t have to! It can be just as easy to throw on a hat or shove a couple of bobby pins in and you have a new look. Long hair this look can be achieved but it takes a lot more planning and attention to detail. Half up, half down is ideal for short hair in women, and can be done in a minute or less. It’s perfect for you peeps always on the go!

The pros of long hair

Lots of options – Having long hair is great because you have more hair. The more hair you have the more options you have for styling. You can do intricate braids, gorgeous up-dos, or even a simple topknot. There’s such a wide range of options, you are able to change your look dramatically from day to day.

Easy to throw up and go – How great is it when you have a bad hair day to put it in a messy bun and go? That is so easy with long hair, that it’s almost second nature. Don’t like what your hair is doing today? Messy bun. Slept on it and one side is all crinkled? Ponytail. The options are endless and can seem effortless.

Not as many haircuts – Having long hair you don’t really notice how fast your hair is growing. It can grow an inch in a month and you won’t even feel it. However, with short hair it grows and inch and you can tell. It looks shaggy, so off to the hair salon you go. Not with long hair! You can go months without getting it cut and you might like the extra length! You should get a cut every two or three months to keep those split ends at bay but that only requires a little trim. Long hair, don’t care.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
