A bad day shifts your focus to a strange and unknown place. There is no one there, actually nothing at all. Looking back on a bad day it was as if I too was sucked into this nothingness of a place. I didn't understand how it could be possible, just two seconds ago I was an average student struggling for good grades and the perfect group of friends. Somehow in between those few moments my existence slipped and somehow I was walking among nothing, an incomplete person with no understanding of where I was or what I was thinking. As I walked around myself I became aware that wherever I was this place was not going to acknowledge who I was, and although I was still a person I was somehow invisible in this world I had created. I blinked trying to escape this twisted place I was thinking of, but instead a building was brought up around me, and I was no longer alone. I was surrounded by people, which was somehow more painful because I knew I would have no way to interact with them. I silently roamed this building stopping every so often to admire this smiles people painted on. I would have to push myself to move forward, when all I wanted was to be the reason for a true smile on someone's face, one free from the lies and the plastic. I picked up my pace trying to jog to the next group of people, but I couldn't even hear myself breath. There was a feeling inside forcing me to be shut out, holding me back from making others feel happiness. I had no control in this place, it was a horrible feeling. I was simply watching. Watching events unfold, having no power to stop anything or anyone. I ceased to exist, even in a place so full of life. It was as if this world was rubbing in my face then I wasn't real, that wherever I was it was not supposed to be enjoyable or tolerable. I was stuck in a place where a bad day was stuck on loop, and nothing was helping. I turned around trying to speak, knowing nothing would make an impact. I was taken over, no one could feel what I was trying to express, no one reacted to my presence, not even in the slightest. I turned and walked down farther into the building and for a brief moment when I paused to turn around I saw a person with the most genuine smile look straight at me, not through me. Her smile grew in my presence, and immediately I felt warmth take over me. Through the bluest of moments, somehow this emotion of happiness followed one small action, but how was it possible that she could see me when I thought I was invisible.

I would rather have you share your smile with the world than this article to the world.
I often find myself thinking, if only we could feel how others felt when they received a compliment or a smile, because then everything would be different. Maybe people wouldn't be so mean, if they knew how someone felt on a bad day, or even knew their insecurities, before making fun of them. I hoped to write something expressing feelings, and how the smallest things can make a difference, but that is far too wide of a concept to cover. I thought I’d stick to something simpler, something that is human nature, smiling.
