Sex Is Great, But These 23 Things In College Are More Important

If sex is the first thing you think about when you think about college, you're mistaken.

Sex shouldn't be the first thing on your mind when you think about coming to college.

Don't get me wrong, sex is great. But to think that all college is about is hooking up with random people is completely off base. We shouldn't be putting so much focus into perfecting our Tinder profiles so we get the perfect match (aka friends with benefits) or spending so much effort in our frat party look when the reality of that is someone is just going to want to sleep with you at said frat party.

College isn't about hooking up with a different person every week. College isn't about finding the perfect FWB. In fact, college isn't about sex at all. Here are 23 things that are way more important in college than sex.

1. Finding the perfect major

Most of us don't walk into college deadset on being a marketing major, or nursing major, or journalism major and stay stuck with it all four years. It's trial and error and really learning about yourself that lands you the perfect major.

2. Making friends

Your friends will be there forever. Your Tinder match will not.

3. Getting involved in organizations

I can't picture college without the organizations I got involved in.

4. Learning how to manage time

Without this important skill, you'll spend every Sunday night cramming everything in you should've been working on all week...

5. Making your family proud

They're going to be so proud of you when you walk across that stage and get your degree. I promise.

6. Understanding the importance of a good night's sleep

4 hours won't cut it tbh.

7. Having awesome spring break trips

Whether you stay home or go on the craziest Florida trip ever, it's all about having great spring breaks because they won't come around again once you graduate.

8. Getting involved in the actual dating scene

Yeah, you may not meet your soulmate, but it's a lot more fun to have something more than a fling.

9. Starting a healthy lifestyle

Working out, eating healthy, although they can be kinda hard college is a good time to begin learning these skills.

10. Stepping outside of your comfort zone

This is where all your growth will happen.

11. Building the perfect resume

So you can end up with the job you're going to school for in the first place.

12. Creating memories you'll never forget, even if you kind of want to

Like those 3 a.m. walks home with your friends from the frat party...

13. Creating solid relationships with your professors

They can be your best friends if you work it right.

14. Learning how to cook for yourself

Even when McDonald's is right down the street and pizza is just a phone call away...

15. Learning how to be a better adult in general

#Adulting

16. Staying true to yourself

And being the best version of yourself.

17. Having the best GPA possible

Your academics are the real reason you're here after all.

18. Not getting an STD

Yeah, I went there.

19. Not getting pregnant

I went there again. Condoms are your friend, friends.

20. Saving up as much money as possible

Defeat the "broke college student" stereotype and save up for your future success.

21. Having a good roommate

They just make life so much easier.

22. Finding the perfect study spot

And start cranking away.

23. Your own happiness

At the end of the day, your own personal happiness is the most important. Sex is great, yeah, but if that isn't what is driving your happiness (and let's be real, while it can make you happy for awhile that happy won't last) it shouldn't be your #1 priority. There's so much more to life than that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
