The 7 Stages of Summertime

You're probably around stage 6 or 7 right now.

The 7 Stages of Summertime

Everyone loves summertime. The warm weather, the sunshine, the free time, swimming at the pool and so much more. Summertime is a time for some relaxation, in between all of the shifts you pick up at work. If you're lucky, summertime is a chance to not have to worry about classes, homework and exams. Summertime is a chance to see old high school friends again and catch up on all that you've missed. Summertime is a chance to live with your parents again (as weird as it might be) and get a break from that cafeteria, meal-plan food. However, summer seems to go by in stages. So, here are the seven stages of summertime.

1. Alone

The first stage is not wanting to leave college. You don't want to say goodbye to your friends who live how many hours away. You don't want them to leave you. You can't imagine being without them after being with them 24/7 during the school year. You hope to talk to them every day.

2. Frustration

When you're at college, you're used to being able to walk anywhere you want to go in about 10 to 15 minutes. There's tons of restaurants around you, parties and ways to entertain yourself. But at home, if you want to go anywhere fun, you have to drive at least 10 minutes. College was so convenient to walk anywhere and anytime. Frustration takes over when life isn't as easy at home.

3. Relief

Finally, the original squad is back together. Even though you've made new friends at college, they will never understand your awkward ages or have been there during that one moment. It feels good to be back together, and you can sigh a breath of relief as they begin to tell you all the college drama they have endured.

4. Exhaustion

After a bit of relaxation, your all-nighters and late nights have finally caught up with you. It hits you like a brick wall, and you never knew you could feel this tired. You thought you were handling no sleep well until you got home. All you want to do is sleep until noon and hope this awful feeling goes away.

5. Rich

You have nothing else to do but pick up all those extra shifts at work and hope you get scheduled more. You look at your bank accounts and see those big checks you earned. Finally, you're not paying thousands of dollars for school and are actually having an income. I'll just stay here and count all my cash.

6. Boredom

Summer was fun for a while, not having to worry about school and having free time, but you're so over it now. Where are all your college friends and when are they coming back? What day does school start again and how many days away is it? There's nothing to do and you miss seeing them so much. We're ready for you, school.

7. Excitement

You just can't handle the excitement. It's so close, and you can't wait for school (excluding the actual school part). You get to see your friends again, finally. Everything will go back to the way it was, and you'll be content again. Can't wait!

First, you felt alone and you got frustrated. You sighed a breath of relief and then just about passed out from exhaustion. You felt rich as the money poured into your bank account. Chances are, right now you're somewhere in the six or seven stage of being bored or excited. Summer is coming to end, and the stages will be over soon as you return to your college town.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
