We all have quirks that make us unique. I just happen to have a lot of them that I keep in the closet. But, there is never no time like the now to let a few of them become public knowledge.

1. I sleep in a silk cap.

Giphy

I have curly hair and am very peculiar about how I take care of it. Some may see my hair and think it's a frizzy mess. But if people knew what my hair looks like if I don't take care of it, I'm certain they would think something lives in my hair. So the silk cap is one way I pay respect to the curls.

2. I’m actually shy.

Giphy

This may come as a shock to many people, since I'm known for my bubbly personality and ability keep up engaging conversations when it comes to talking to new people. (Or at least I think...) But what people don't know is that inside I am dying of fear. When someone new is presented into my life, a million questions and doubts run through my head as I'm talking to them. It actually takes multiple, frequent encounters for these thoughts to eventually go away. So if I reach out to you, know that it actually took a lot of effort on my behalf.

3. I covet men’s clothing.

Giphy

I love clothes of all kinds. This includes men's clothing. Fun printed tees, well-fitted suits, and a button-down, short-sleeved shirts are just the start of my list of things I wish I could wear. This doesn't even include accessories. I would never wear men's clothing because it doesn't look flattering on me. Nevertheless, men's clothing is beautiful.

4. I have a ‘me’ place.

Giphy

So my 'me' place is not a physical place I can go to, which is actually very convenient because it's there whenever I need it. Rather my 'me' place is a place I have made up in my mind. You could call it my own personal world. I even have a geographic layout of what it looks like in my mind. I'm not going to give out too many details, but just know that my 'me' place is pretty darn cool.

5. I love stuffed animals

Giphy

Do you remember Agnes in Despicable Me when she gets a giant stuffed unicorn? She shouts "It's so fluffy." Yeah, I'm Agnes. I am obsessed with stuffed animals. I own quite a few and always want more. Why? Because stuffed animals are like pets I don't have to take care of; plus, they are soft, warm, cute and FLUFFY!

6. I collect mementos.

Giphy

I am not very wide in my expression of emotions. For example, I don't cry. I don't yell in anger. I'm very much of the belief that my feelings should go with the flow. But even though I don't express a lot of feeling, I actually am a very sentimental person. Evidence of this is that I collect mementos of things I deeply care about. For example, I have my first tutu from when I started ballet at the age of three. I also keep all letters and notes ever sent to me by people I cherish.

7. I’m huge on loyalty.

Giphy

This is typically not something I verbally express, but rather expect people to figure out on their own. The way I determine if someone is worth having in my life is if they are loyal to me. This should not be taken in a Godfather-like way. Rather, I believe if someone is loyal to me, it is because they value and respect me enough that they won't want to leave me. They won't do things that will harm me. They will want to spend time with me. They will always want the best for me. And of course, I hold myself to this standard. I make sure to be loyal others.

So maybe I'm a little weird, but that's the way I like it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
