Seven Bible Verses That Will Help You Through Life

1. For courage.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." ā€” Joshua 1:19

No matter how much I'm stressing this next test, hurting from a break-up or just having a bad day, I read this and think Everything is going to be okay.

2. For stress.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." ā€” Jeremiah 29:11

When you're feeling stressed about your future ā€” which college students have a tendency to do ā€” take a deep breath and relax. He has your whole future planned out. Calm down and pray about it.

3. On being a better person.

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." ā€” Matthew 5:44

We live in a scummy world. People will do you wrong, but don't stoop down to their level. Handle these situations with grace, courage, and humility.

4. On love.

"We love because He first loved us." ā€” 1 John 4:19

When you feel alone, just know that you're not. No matter how much you might think you're not loved or worthy, you are, by Him.

5. On death.

"For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him." ā€” 1 Thessalonians 4:14

The death of a loved one is something we will have to overcome many times. It's always hard to explain why Jesus allowed this to happen to someone we love. They didn't deserve to die. Why did this have to happen to them? He did it for a reason that we'll later be aware of. But also, they're with Him now, isn't that the goal of a Christian? To be with Jesus Christ in Heaven?

6. For strength.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ā€” Philippians 4:13

If you truly want something and not only try your hardest, but also pray about it, He will answer you and give you what's best.

7. For his plans for you.

"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." ā€” Proverbs 19:21

Notice how I said "what's best" in the previous verse. Not everything that we want is what we need. If He doesn't give you something, it's because He has something better in store for you. Always have faith in Him.

Someone once told my dad that God always has three answers to people's prayers: yes, not yet or I have something better in store for you. If He brings you to it, He'll bring you through it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast ā€œBirthdayā€ on anyoneā€™s birthday. I knew all of the words to ā€œBack In The U.S.S.Rā€ by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. Iā€™m not someone to ā€œfangirlā€ but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
