"This Is American Idol..."
For the past 15 years, "American Idol" has been cranking out superstars. For many of us who are now in college, the show was the gist of our childhoods. We lived and breathed Idol.
On January 6, the show kicked off its fifteenth and final season. The truth is that all good things must come to an end. Even though I totally understand this, I still feel like a big piece of my childhood is ending. Before the show takes its final bow, though, I think we should thank the show for all the joy it has brought. Of course the best way to do that is with thank you notes...
1. Thank you, "American Idol," for all of the musical geniuses you have introduced us to over the past 15 years. From Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood to Jennifer Hudson to Jordin Sparks to Scotty McCreary to Clark Beckham, you have produced some of the finest talent out there who are still rolling out the tunes.
2. Thank you, "American Idol," for giving kids a reason to use their parent's cell phones back in the day so that we could vote...
Side note: If you were a kid in the early 2000s, then you know you did this...
3. Thank you, "American Idol," for being the center of family time for so many families. American Idol wasn't just a show, it was, as the "Gilmore Girls" say, "a lifestyle."
4. Thank you, "American Idol," for showing all the bad auditions on TV...
5. Thank you, "American Idol," for Pants on the Ground. I mean, who can forget this guy?!
6. Thank you, "American Idol," for letting all the ladies watch Ryan Seacrest get even more handsome with age...
And for letting the guys fall in love with JLo.
7. Thank you, "American Idol," for all of the mind blowing performances like this one...
8. Thank you, "American Idol," for all the cheesy Ford Music Videos in the early seasons that we could not get enough of.
9. Thank you, "American Idol," for Simon Cowell and all of his mean, yet true comments. Technically, he was Mr. American Idol... even though he is British... but still...
Finally...
10. Thank you, "American Idol," for making season 15 all about reminiscing on all the good times.
Sincerely,
The American people
Enjoy this final season, everyone, take it all in, and never forget all the good times.
