Going to school in San Luis Obispo, California is nothing short of a blessing. This college town is stocked full of things to do, what with the beach at our fingertips and hiking trails at every turn. However, there are also many events here in SLO throughout the fall quarter. Here are eight events that may make living here just that much better.
1. Savor the Central Coast 2015
This four day event, from Sept. 24 through 27, is every foodie's dream. Celebrity and master chefs, music, indulgent drinks, and everything in-between will be featured, making this the tastiest event of fall.
2. Central Coast Writer's Conference
Interested in a career in writing? The Central Coast Writer's Conference, located at Cuesta College, brings in industry professionals, keynote speakers, and teachers to develop writing through workshops for various genres. The event is from the 18th to the 20th of September, so register soon!
3. The Feels Beachside Music and Arts Festival
On Sept. 18, the Avila Beach Resort is hosting a music event featuring Cashmere Cat, Trippy Turtle, Jai Wolf, and Tasty Treat. Tickets are $35.
4. Farmer's Markets
Luckily for SLO's farmer's market lovers, there are plenty of locations to satisfy your craving for fresh strawberries and booth treats! San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay have farmer's markets every Thursday, Arroyo Grande has one every Wednesday and Saturday, and Avila has one every Friday.
5. Italian Street Painting Festival
This 24 year tradition continues at the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, where 100+ artists of all ages and abilities will create street paintings. Proceeds will support the Children’s Museum Art Center and AIA Art Grants to local schools. You can sponsor a square or just come out to watch it all take place on Sept. 26 and 27!
6. Oktoberfest at Madonna Inn
For those who are 21+, Oktoberfest at Madonna Inn runs on Oct. 2 and 3, featuring festive music, activities, and, of course, beer!
7. Avila Beach Party
On Oct. 2, Cash Cash is the featured act at the 5th annual Avila Beach Party at the Avila Beach Resort. General Admission tickets are $35 and going fast, so get yours soon!
8. Murs at SLO Brew
Catch Murs, the only rapper with his own music festival, preforms at SLO Brew on Oct. 5!
