Senior Year Vs. Freshman Year of College As Told By Mean Girls
The Verge

It may be hard to remember, but there was once a time where you couldn't find your way around campus, were living in a room with a person (or people) you barely knew, and had no idea what you were getting yourself into. You were pretending you had it figured out, but basically you were just winging it (still true). Now that graduation is approaching closer than ever before, seniors should reflect on how much our lives have changed since we were freshmen.

The first day of class:

Freshman year - You're stocked with pens, pencils, your laptop, your books, a notebook, etc. Yes your backpack is 15 lbs but your high school teachers convinced you that you needed to be prepared for literally anything in college or you'd never graduate.

Senior year - You're bringing the bare necessities and don't stress about anything else. Your presence is a present considering all of the things you need to do this week.

Decorating your dorm:

Freshman year - Your dorm is extensively decked out with the entire Bed Bath and Beyond catalog. The walls are filled on move-in day with photos from prom, high school graduation, and grad parties, etc. Not only do you love having these pictures up, but you also totally wanted your new roommates to know you had a ton of friends in high school.

Senior year - You'll decorate when you get to it. And when you do, it's probably all of pictures with the people you're living with anyways.

Dressing for class:

Freshman year - After the first week of school, you're wearing sweatpants, yogas, sneakers, moccasins, or anything else that took 10 seconds to select is what you're wearing to class. You just lightly jogged from across campus because you overslept and frankly style took the back burner this morning.

Senior year - Okay so you're still doing the above. But it's not uncommon to be seen running around campus in business clothes. You're not trying hard to impress your professor; you're going right to your internship after class.

Socializing:

Freshman year - You're down for anything and meeting anyone because you just want to get along with your roommates and have a big group of friends like you did in high school.

Senior year - You have a good mix of best friends, good friends and acquaintances. You're still trying to wrap your brain around the idea that we'll never all be within five minutes of each other again.

Love Life:

Freshman year - You have a crush on everybody, especially people that live in the same building/on the same floor as you because that sounds like an amazing idea right?

Senior year - Seriously questioning if people still do the whole "ring by spring" thing because you don't think you could see yourself being married anytime soon.

Homework:

Freshman year - You wait until the night before to do everything just like you did in high school, and it doesn't take long to realize this is a terrible idea.

Senior year - You probably still procrastinate, but you would do anything to go back to a schedule filled with 100 level courses. You've gotten this far with some help from your fellow classmates and Google.

Going to events:

Freshman year - I'll go next year, who cares? You're on a Netflix binge with your roommate that doesn't stop for anything.

Senior year - You participate in any event that interests you because you're starting to realize you'll never get to experience college life again.

Thoughts on graduation:

Freshman year - You still can't believe that you're done with high school, and the idea of college graduation seems so far into the future.

Senior year - It probably won't hit you that you've graduated until September comes and you aren't moving in again. Depressing reality, but we'll accept it eventually.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
