Chapter as a senior can get a bit repetitive. The same thing happens every week like it has for the past three years. Nothing's changed. During freshman year, it was so new and fresh and entertaining. You felt that you could conquer the world in Greek life. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. But chapter meetings haven't always been the same to you.
Getting ready for the meeting
Freshman Year:
You take an hour to get ready and to look perfect.
Senior Year:
You look through laundry to find an appropriate finger-length cardigan five minutes before the meeting starts.
During the meeting
Freshman Year:
"Wow, I can't wait to be a senior and sit in the front row."
Senior Year:
"Omg, can I be a freshman again so the president doesn't see me texting the whole time?"
Talking about the sisterhood retreat
Freshman Year:
"Can't wait to hang out with my sisters."
Senior Year:
"Omg, I know everything about everyone already, let's just go get margaritas."
When a sign-up sheet for something gets passed around
Freshman Year:
*Signs up for everything at every meeting*
Senior Year:
*Signs up for one thing per month then passes the rest down*
When the president asks if there are any questions
Freshman Year:
Your whole pledge class has a question about something.
Senior Year:
Every time someone raises their hand, you slightly die inside.
During candlelight drop ceremonies
Freshman Year:
"Oh my gosh, I wonder who it is."
Senior Year:
*Rolls eyes* "Well it's not me. The only steady relationship I've had these four years is with my bartender."
Going into standards
Freshman Year:
"I'm so scared, are they gonna kick me out?"
Senior Year:
"Sup guys, how have y'all been since last time?"
No, but for real, the majority of this may be 100% accurate, but truthfully, I adore my chapter and cry at least once a week because of how much I love it. The meetings are bittersweet and I know come fall semester I'm going to wish I had a Monday meeting to go to each week.
