Senior Year Of College As Told By 'School of Rock'

Let's graduate, let's graduate, today.

With less than half a month until my graduation date let me break down what to expect when you're expecting (graduation) in the best way I know how, by comparing senior year to The School or Rock without getting too angry that Jack Black was never one of my substitute teachers.

1. It starts when "The Man" makes you apply for graduation.

2. Then your email gets flooded with cap and gown details, ticket information, and every other way to remind you that you're being kicked out of the band. (?!?!)

3. But you're not mad, you're going to go on to bigger and better things; get a new squad and thrive with them, right?

4. You hear a group of people in class talking about their already flawless resumes and you can't hide how intrigued (and thoroughly confused) you are.

5. Maybe your job interviews become rejections, maybe you start failing a required class, whatever the case may be, morale is low and reality sets in.

6. Your friends and family start noticing you aren't as lively as you were during your sophomore year, but you refuse to take any of their advice or help.

7. With every "what are your post grad plans?" question you become more and more agitated, and sometimes your answer comes out harsher than anticipated, but that doesn't mean you're sorry.

8. Graduation is a couple months away, time to get a mentor and get things rolling.

9. And now it would only be fair if you rewarded your efforts by rallying the troops for a night out.

10. Followed by a week long recovery.

11. Making the realization that you need to feed yourself motivation and get back to work.

12. When you start hearing back from jobs you forgot you even applied to.

13. Now you have to pick up your cap and gown, start packing up your room, and hype up anyone crying.

14. Seeing you passed all of your classes and letting out a "sigh of relief."

15. When you finally get to walk across the stage towards your university's president.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
