College students have been back to school for about a month now. We're all pretty much used to our schedules, teachers, and classes. With all the chaos and stress of homework, studying, and other activities, it's nice to know that our friends and family still care about us and are thinking of us. What better way to show your college student you're thinking of them than to send them a care package??
Whether it's big or small, anything you send a college student will get them excited and probably make their whole week. Here's some tips and ideas for sending care packages that will make any college student smile:
1. Include a gift card.
Gift cards for the coffee shop on campus (ex. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts) or for their favorite pizza place (ex. Domino's, Pizza Hut) are definitely a good idea. The less money they have to spend on food, the better, because we are broke college students after all.
2. Figure out their favorite snacks.
At this point in the semester, all the snacks and food they started out with are probably gone or almost gone. Find out what snack foods they like and include those in the care package. Also, getting small portions, like snack size bags, instead of a huge box or bag of something is ideal for students who are always on the go.
3. Frame a picture.
Throwing in a framed family photo, a picture of the dog, or something that reminds them of home is never a bad idea. They can use it to decorate their room as well.
4. Add in something sweet.
Get a bag of the fun size candy bars, a bag of their favorite chewy candy, or even just some homemade baked goods and throw them in there! Not all the food in a care package should be sugary or unhealthy, but everyone needs some chocolate or candy every once in awhile!
5. Be festive!
It's almost Halloween and Autumn has just started! Add in some small decorations from the Dollar Store or get some things from the cheap section of Target to make it festive! Look for items such as festive socks, hand sanitizer or lotion in a fall scent, or even just some fall themed foods (like apple, cinnamon, or pumpkin flavors) to make a box with a Fall theme.
6. Include a note or card.
Adding in a handwritten card or note can make all the difference. Say you're thinking of them, miss them, hope they're doing well, etc. and it will make their day 100x better. Even if you aren't sending anything with it, just getting a card at school is exciting.
7. Think of essentials.
Think of things that the student uses everyday that they might be out of (or just ask them). This could be anything from shampoo and other toiletry items to plastic utensils and paperware. Including these can save them a trip to the grocery store and a litte extra money.
