For most of us, it becomes a fact that we mentally clock out of the semester before it is over. There are some who do so as soon as the first week of class is over, while others lose focus bit by bit. This isn’t to say that no one is failing to go to class or at submitting assignments, but the drive seems to fade out by April. The ever so familiar phrase, “I can’t wait for the semester to be over,” is soon to follow.
I have to say that I feel the struggle, but hang in there. It's almost over.
Rather than spending all of this time knowing that you still have three exams, a presentation, and a 5,000-word essay due, look at the bright spots in all of your tasks.
If you started off strong, don’t let laziness or senioritis get the most of you in your last semester. Buckle down and take things bit by bit while there is still time to not be submerged in last minute assignments.
If motivation is something that you are lacking, finishing off the semester on a positive note and being able to enjoy the summer knowing that your particular class or classes are over forever should be a huge plus. Knowing you can begin your plans is a great feeling, whether it's traveling, that internship that you can’t wait to start, or even just enjoying your summer with a clear conscience, knowing you earned it by giving it your all.
As students, a semester takes its toll mentally, physically, and emotionally. It’s easy to just throw in the towel and stop caring. Instead, realize that you’ve been putting in so much work for months that a few more weeks is nothing now.
Don’t pay so much attention to the days on the calendar. Work wisely, squeeze in some time to take your mind off of school work, and just think of the plans ahead to be completed when the semester is finally over.
