I don't have the best track record when it comes to kindness in high school. So when I came to college, I made a decision to change, to be the good person I always found myself becoming during the summer at church camp and on mission trips. I wanted to be that girl all the time. So I decided to see the world through my little sister's eyes. And this is what I've learned:

No One Is Out To Get Me.
Sure, things happen and people aren't always going to like me, but they aren't out to get me. At times it will seem like they are and that they are just doing little things to push my buttons, but in the end that is just who they are. That doesn't make them a bad person, it just makes us not compatible.
Revenge Is A Dish Best NOT Served.
I'm only going to start a bigger argument or fight if I retaliate. So why do it? Things like this are better to just let go. Holding a grudge is like drinking poison, you're just hurting yourself.
There's A Difference Between Being Alone and Being Lonely.
Sometimes people need their space. That doesn't mean they're mad or angry at me, that's just how they are. And I need to let them have their space. Once they are ready for company I can welcome them with open arms.
It's Okay To Be Sad.
This one is so hard for me. I'm that girl that wants to be around you all the time. To always be laughing and happy. I do have days when I am sad and angry at the world, but honestly they're slim to none. It's okay to be sad, to feel down. But, it's also okay to be optimistic and not let the small things ruin my day, too.
Embrace Your Fears, And Learn From Them.
I like to think that I'm fearless. I know that I'm not, but sometimes that's what gets me through the day. I hope to one day not see as being scared as weak.
Learn How to Trust.
I'm not going to lie, it's hard to trust people nowadays. There's a fine line between trusting someone and letting them walk all over. Some people are selfish and greedy, and look for people to use. But you have to trust your gut and trust. I want people to trust me, so I have to trust them.
You're Not Needy Because You Need.
I am strong and independent. I do things for myself and I live on the other side of the state from my family. But I do need people. I need the unconditional love my dog gives me. I need the girls' night out with my friends. I need my family's love and support. I need my sorority sisters. I need a lot of things and people. They keep me sane and in line. We're human, we need people and interactions to be happy.
It's Okay To Be A Dreamer.
If I can stress one thing out of this article more than the others it's this one. Dreams are what keep me alive and thriving. Don't ever give up your dreams. I know I won't. Why not explore the what ifs? It's normal to hope for greater things, to have a bit of an imagination.
Be Who You Are.
I'm a cool person, sometimes I like to say that I rock. But, I'm not always so confident, it's slow developing. I like who I am and who I am becoming. It took me a long time to realize that, though, that I don't have to be anything but me. It really is okay to be myself.
The journey through my little sister's selfless eyes was an experience I will hold on to forever. I want to be just like her. Now, I volunteer and I serve. I laugh and I skip. I see the bright side of things and my cup is always half full. I always see the good in everyone. Because deep down it's there. I give out my trust until you give me a reason to take it back. I believe in second chances and making a difference in the world. Every day is a blessing. It's about time people see it my sister's way.
