Dear Second Year Roommate,

Let me start off by saying I can't wait to be back in our dorm room together! I have missed you so much over this summer and I can't wait to be living with you again! With that being said, I know that when we move back there are going to be a lot of adjusting we both will have to get used to.

Living with someone can be very difficult at times, but there are so many perks!

I am so excited to decorate our new room together! It's always so hard for me to sleep in my college bed after being home for any amount of time, even though I'll probably be cuddling with you in your bed for the first few nights because we both know how home sick I get.

I'm so excited for our late dinner, movie nights; the nights that we stay up until 3 in the morning doing homework and crying about the exam we have to study for at the end of the week.

I'm so excited to wake up every morning in the same room as you and decide together that it is too cold outside to walk to our 8am class, and that we both deserve to sleep in a little longer since we stayed up all night studying.

I can't wait for the weekends that will soon come when we will adventure the park way together or get lost somewhere in the mountains where there is no cellphone service.

Our fridge will we stocked with cranberry juice and blueberries and we will more than likely start OTH over from the beginning and cry when Dan is shot as we drink our coffee and apply our facemasks.

Most of my summer has consisted of gathering the necessities that I will bring with me back to school, but as summer is quickly coming to an end the count down begins! So just remember to be patient with me when we first move back into our small college dorm room together as part of me has forgotten what it's like to share a living space with someone else.

Remember I will be homesick, so I'll probably cry a lot.

Remember I'm a momma's girl at heart, so I'll probably facetime her a lot.

Remember I'll be far away from home, so I'll probably talk your head off about how much I miss my friends and family.

Remember I clean a lot, so don't take it offensive, I just tidy up when I'm nervous or stressed.

Remember I love to cuddle, so if you need personal space just tell me to get in my own bed.

And most importantly remember how much I have missed you!

Let's have another great year together and make even more memories!

Love,

Your freshman roomie <3

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
