At one point or another, we all have received a bag, bin, or other containers of clothes that were graciously given to us by someone else. While some people turn their noses up at hand-me-down clothing, it's actually awesome!

1. You can save money.

Being smart with your money helps when things happen that are out of our control. It doesn't seem like a lot at the time, but the money you save by wearing hand me downs, shopping second-hand, or couponing does add up!

2. You can put that money towards important investments.

Whether it's paying off student loans, taking that art class you've had your eye on, or saving up to start your own small business, you'll have a bit of extra money on hand to help!

3. It's fun to try them on!

Let's be honest: you have just as much fun trying on clothes as you did playing in costumes as a little kid. Now that you're a young adult, you can try on these free clothes, put on some upbeat music and pretend like the world is your runway.

4. You may find just what you've been looking for.

Two years ago, I was at Kohl's and saw some pretty North Face jackets on sale for $60. I looked at the different colors and even tried one on, but there was no way that I would spend that much.

Fast-forward a year later. I was with my roommate and her mom, picking up some donations for an organization. Lo and behold, she came downstairs with a North Face jacket just like the ones I had looked at! It fits me perfectly and I still smile whenever I remember the story.

You never know what you'll find!

5. When you've grown out of them, you can pass them on to others.

There's no feeling quite like sharing love, regardless of what you give. Bless on and bless up!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
