In 1791, when the Second Amendment and the rest of the Bill of Rights were ratified, the Founders of our great nation recognized in order to keep their new nation free, citizens must be allowed the right to bear arms. They recognized a gun is the one defense a law-abiding citizen has from tyranny and evil. They recognized if they did not defend this one defense, future governments of the United States could harm, or even take away, this one defense and diminish their nation. Today, in 2016, politicians in capitol buildings and city halls all across America are attempting to defy and ignore the Constitution and the Founding Fathers and begin to chip away at the foundation of liberty in America. They are trying to restrict American’s ability to bear arms.

We’ve seen it over and over again by out of touch, elitist politicians. They shout gun control for millions of law-abiding gun owners as they stand ten feet from an armed guard. They villainize law-abiding, good gun owners in exchange for donations from the anti-gun lobby. They call constitutional, gun-supporting conservative legislators enablers for gun-related deaths but fail to recognize most of these gun-related deaths are from gun owners who acquired their gun by illegal means. Those gun owners who acquire their guns by illegal means are the ones should be focusing on, not the law-abiding ones! But liberal elitists ignore facts. They ignore the fact that guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 crimes every day, and in most of those cases, a bullet is never fired. They ignore facts such as 90% of all violent crime in the United States doesn't even involve a firearm. They ignore facts such as there is no such thing as an “unlicensed dealer” of weapons at gun shows, every gun dealer is licensed to sell. That “fact” is simply a talking point used by anti-Second Amendment politicians. They ignore all these facts, but they don’t ignore the checks from the anti-gun lobby.

The most violent city in our country is Chicago, Illinois. A liberal haven and hometown to gun control advocates Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Rahm Emanuel. The violence isn’t coming from law-abiding-gun-owning citizens in Chicago. No, it’s coming from gangs who get their handguns and rifles and other weaponry from the black market or through theft. Rarely do they acquire a weapon by legal means. But Hillary and Barack and Rahm want punish the law-abiding gun owners and aide the gun owners who get their guns illegally. They want to take away my right to access a weapon to defend myself. Instead they will allow thugs to get weapons to terrorize the American people because those thugs will know the American public will not have a defense because their right to bear arms had been defied by out of touch politicians who care solely about the size of their campaign's bank account, and not the American people or our Constitution.

The Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves as they witness the total defiance of their hard work on the Constitution and their belief that a free society must be armed. As they see these politicians chip away at their work, they chip away at American liberty and freedom. They chip away at the foundation of this great nation. They ignore facts and instead focus on campaign contributions. But their actions could have graver consequences. If we, the American people, do not have a personal defense from tyranny and evil, what stops it from coming to our doorstep?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
